The DR-40XP consumed a set of batteries in 4-5 days sitting on my desk. Three times. And then I realized it had a rattle. Preamps sounded good - big improvement over the prior model, and more importantly they actually shielded the mics on this model so they weren't picking up every phone within 50 feet. Making slow & steady progress with this. Got a non-scary deadline in that my friend is coming to help me with it next weekend, so the more I can learn before then, the most I can get from his time. Found some cool YT vids.
Couple of things I already like about it: I love the fact that it’s “portrait” a lot of hardware seems to be landscape. It’s light, but sturdy. V portable. My primary goal is to work towards being able to perform a live track or two at an open mic or such
