I'm so excited to be restarting website features for 2026! This year I will be showcasing the amazing members in the #SovereignWeb & #FreeSpeech #Webrings.
Kicking off member features is Elswhere! She has such a creative space. I adore her early 2000s web nostalgia vibes. She has a lot of great tips to share on personal website building. Check it out! 👇

Showcase Saturday: Ge Ricci
Geri Ricci (Angela “Ge” Ricci) has been shaping the web since the mid 1990s, carrying a genuine love for writing clean markup and making the web accessible to all. She was born in São Paulo in 1966, fell in love with writing and drawing as a child, and later moved to France to build her career in visual communication and web standards. With over 32 years of experience, she still delights in crafting web pages, teaching, and speaking about the web in places like FFConf. Very cool!
Her personal style shines through her homepage where she introduces herself as being “married to HTML,” having “CSS as her sister,” and JavaScript as her “longtime lover.” That quirky phrasing hints at a deep appreciation for the web’s foundations: solid semantics, thoughtful markup, and the clarity that a well-built page can bring.
In her essay “The Web and the Butterfly Effect”, Geri explores how tiny early decisions, like choosing clean HTML, can ripple into massive effects later on. She champions progressive enhancement, reliability, and web performance as more than buzzwords. To her, they represent ethical design, user respect, and future proofing all wrapped up in one.
Her Work section features projects born more of passion than commission: a playful redesign for Open Web Advocacy and imaginative personal web experiments like “A Cuca,” a kind of visual blog mashup that blends design, storytelling, and curiosity. What they all have in common is intention and integrity, not flashy code, but thoughtful, human centered creation.
Geri’s website is full of little gems for anyone curious about design, accessibility, or the soul of the internet. She shares some really great advice on coding for those looking to expand their skills. Take a moment to explore! There’s a lot to learn, reflect on, and enjoy. ♥

Website Features Starting Back Up
Hey everyone! I have some great news – I’m going to be doing features again! I really do want to continue them in some capacity, but I’m going to change things up a little bit. I’ve encountered a few folks who didn’t want to be featured in the past for one reason or another, and it’s understandable. So instead, I am opening feature submissions! Anyone who wants their website showcased and receive a little boost in visitors can submit their website to be featured here: https://sovereignweb.thecozy.cat/get-featured/
Features will be showcased on the front page of my Sovereign Web subdomain, as well as shared on all the Sovereign Web social media channels. I am hoping continuing features will not only be a great thing for personal website owners to gain more exposure, but also continue to help inspire newcomers.
I’m also opening up feature requests for webrings and communities that fall within the personal web niche.
This isn’t going to be part of any marketing campaign anymore. Features will be on a first come first serve basis. Some weeks there may be features, other weeks there may be none. It will all depend on the amount of submissions. But doing features were a lot of fun and I know that some people found Webring Wednesdays valuable as a resource.
Anyways, I just wanted to share this with you guys! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here and I’m still working on different projects, just more at my own pace this time.
If anyone would like to kick off the first feature, come submit your site! The first person to request a feature will be posted this coming Saturday! 🙂

The Sovereign Web Ring is Live
Hey everyone! Just a quick update!
After 2 days of hard work, I’ve finally got the Sovereign Web Ring and directory erected. It would have been up sooner but I ran into a couple challenges and I really wanted to make sure it was polished before I released it. I’ve also done a little extra polishing on this subdomain as well and feel really happy with the new aesthetic around here.
I’ve also decided to republish some of my social media marketing posts. I saw a few people referring others to Webring Wednesdays as a resource for finding new webrings and I don’t want to take that away from anyone if they found it useful. I might continue to do webring features within a different capacity in the future but I’m going to need a better social media automation system before I consider doing regular features again. Keeping up with regular features is already quite a bit of work. Taking time to post them on several social media platforms manually and even semi-automated also takes quite a bit of time. I’m pretty determined I’ll find a good system for this eventually though.
Anyways, I just wanted to invite everyone to check out this new webring. 🙂 While it is a different branch of the personal web, I absolutely want to extend the invitation for everyone within the small web / indie web to join this new ethos if it aligns. I’ve seen a lot of gatekeeping during my time in these spaces (I was part of the small web for over 2 years before I branched off) and I don’t know if the Sovereign Web will help be a remedy for that, but I think it will really help make space in this niche for everybody, and unify people supporting true diversity and inclusivity. 💜 We don’t all have to agree with what we’re all doing in our own spaces. We don’t all have to follow the same path. We don’t all have to think the same things. We don’t all have to share the same values. We are all different. Some of us are here for the same reasons, some of us are here for different reasons. It’s all valid. So I hope that this will be a really positive thing and help people find community no matter where they’re at or how they choose to experience this creative hobby. 🙏

💛 Webring Wednesday #8 💛 | Collectors Webring
The Collectors Webring is a unique corner of the independent web where people proudly display the things they’ve gathered and loved over the years. Whether you collect enamel pins, keychains, plushies, zines, oddities, or anything in between, this webring is all about celebrating the joy of collecting and the stories behind each item. There’s no gatekeeping here—big or small, obscure or mainstream, every collection is welcome.
What makes this webring so charming is how deeply personal it feels. Each linked site is like walking into someone’s room and being shown their prized possessions with excitement and care. It’s a lovely reminder that curation is its own form of creativity—and seeing what others treasure might just inspire you to start your own little hoard. If you’re the type who gets excited about shelves full of trinkets or lovingly cataloged photo pages, you’ll fit right in.

💛 Webring Wednesday #15 💛 | Carnivorous Plant Web Ring
The Carnivorous Plant Web Ring is a clever little ecosystem of its own; one that links together sites dedicated to the weird and wonderful world of bug-eating plants. Organized by the International Carnivorous Plant Society, this webring makes it easier than ever to browse between enthusiasts, researchers, collectors, and growers who all share a passion for Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, sundews, and more. It’s a wild ride through nature’s oddities, where each click might bring you to a new grow journal, care guide, or drool-worthy plant collection.
This isn’t just a handy directory, it’s a thriving digital terrarium. Whether you’re a curious newcomer wondering how to keep a flytrap alive or a seasoned cultivator with an indoor jungle of Nepenthes, the web ring encourages discovery, learning, and connection with fellow carnivorous plant enthusiasts.
