On this day in 2012, I caught a South Shore Line train from Chicago to Michigan City. In Michigan City, the South Shore Line ran along 11th Street.
The South Shore Line runs regional trains between Chicago and South Bend Airport on a former interurban line. This line was originally electrified at the unusual voltage of 6600v AC, but later converted to 1500v AC.
In 2022, the section of street running through Michigan City was closed, with buses currently replacing trains until a deviation is constructed.
