  1. One minor thing that bothered me was that the otherwise very expansive piece on the #CCP #dictatorship didn't include even a single passing mention of #Tibetans, #Uighurs or #SouthMongolians facing #genocide in "Xi Jinping's China". I'd say those present a rather notable ethical dilemma for academic PRC engagers right there, but what do I know... ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

(the only references to so-called ethnic minorities were: โ€œ70 cases of dissent by Tibetans and Mongolians.โ€ and โ€œ ...the anti-foreign protests surrounding reports on the uprising in Tibetan China in the Western pressโ€)

In a way that is quite enlightening of the fact that sinologists are practically by definition preoccupied with the already-siniziced 'Han' Chinese subjects while their colonial victims aren't considered actually Chinese(!). Ordinarily the CCP would be foaming at the mouth at such 'distortion of historical facts', but, with irony sometimes self-immolating right on cue, the Party seems quite at peace with the lack of spotlight on its #lebensraum activities...

One might also add that the Chinese peoples (plural!) are facing their own potentially irreversible cultural genocide in the form of CCP's thirdreich-esque "One Language" drive (see: ein volk ein reich ein fรผhrer) where the party-neutered and ideogram-simplified version of Pekingese shall replace *all* of the native languages across the empire. Only a century ago all 'regions' in the empire had their own languages (naturally) and only those with special needs would acquire 'mandarin' from, well, some mandarin...

They are *not* dialects of some mythical 'chinese' any more than the variety of Indo-European languages would be mere dialects of some mythical 'european', or god forbid 'aryan' uber tongue.

  2. It's such a brutally basic question.

Would you buy plastic nazi trinkets? Cheap nazi electronics?

Would you watch nazi satellite "news"? Play computer games by nazis?

Would you use nazi apps that can access all your private data? (their own networks being only accessible to the nazi party)

Would you send nazis your industrial base and your bankers to finance it?

From the point of view of #Tibetans, #Uighurs, #SouthMongolians, #Hongkongers and most of their current neighbours worried about pesky "#lebensraum issues", the Chinese dictatorship are like nazis, just without the _express_ corporeal extermination programme.

Yet nearly everyone merrily does business with them. Even the Jewish state... They have full WTO access to abuse as they will. Those they trust with passports go on foreign holiday tours. Unlike those denied *exit*...

    Kindly explain to me why.

It's not 1945. They overthrew their republic in 1949 and went on to commit atrocities they've erased from their subjects' memory, and apparently from the memory of most free people as well. The key thought driving them forward is "biding time and hiding strength" until they can erase *#democracy* โ€” the one thing that they fear and hate more than anything. They're buying off (not only) developing country elites at a pace that would make the East India Company blush.

I suppose Lenin's lightbulb moment of "selling capitalists the rope with which to hang them" didn't go the waste after all.
