We are now home from #SouthamptonPride.
As much as we were enjoying the singing and dancing, the sudden drenching downpour combined with blustery winds was quite unpleasant. Particularly as I managed to break our umbrella.
It was a lovely morning of hanging around among likeminded people, vibing to fun music, and buying silly stickers from the artists who made them. Also, an entire roast pork dinner wrapped in a massive Yorkshire pudding. Nice.
Popped in to Cafe Thrive on the way back to the car to avail ourselves of an enormous slice of rainbow cake. Double nice.

Something I enjoy about #SouthamptonPride is the number of people lining the sides of the road wearing rainbow clothes, waving pro-LGBTQ+ signs. Not just shoppers who happened to be there, but people who have actively chosen to go down and show support.

Important Announcement!
For the past two years, Trans Pride Southampton has existed as an independent organisation. We’ve enjoyed not just having our namesake event rage through the city as the protest it is. We’ve also put on smaller events through the year, like a meet up at Calshot Beach, and a small queer sports day.
Due to a range of reasons, Trans Pride Southampton is formally dissolving as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
However, we will be merging our resources with Southampton Pride so the event and cause will exist under the Southampton Pride umbrella.
This does mean the Trans Pride Southampton event will not happen on the 25th October, but we will be helping at Southampton Pride on the 23rd and 24th August, to make sure the trans community is properly included and fought for - in perhaps the most important year for Pride so far.
It has been a fantastic three years bringing the Trans community together in Southampton, and we cannot wait to continue to do this with Southampton Pride.
