  1. Question for #rust folks, and probably specifically #audio and #gamedev s: What do you use for audio tone generation/synthesis and sample playback? I’m on a little sidequest in one of my projects, and am looking for something that meets some optimality of lightweight and expressive—ideally a single API with which I can interact, with some sort of abstraction for notes, intervals, keys, etc. Sequencing and timekeeping are far less important.

The ideal would be something analogous to what’s described in [The Haskell School of Music](cs.yale.edu/homes/hudak/Papers ) (which is far from lightweight and simple and I don’t even know if it’s a thing anymore, but it is the superset of functionality and abstraction that would be ideal).

There’s a wide range of choices it seems, and audio is new-ish territory for me, so suggestions actively solicited.

I want to tag this as #generativemusic as well, but to be clear, I’m talking about “generative” in the the pre-LLM sense, ala the [Nodal Synthesizer](nodalmusic.com), as opposed to a pareidoliac wind chime.

    Thanks!

    UPDATE: Boosts welcome and appreciated!
