I just watched a great scene transition: a character screams, and the sound cross-fades into the squeaking of a door opening in the next scene, like the audio equivalent of a match cut.
Elegant and effective.
I love smart, intentional scene transitions. This was top notch.

I downloaded #Reaper. It sure sounds like a lot of stuff. I just want to use it to convert files from one filetype to another for now. I am not even thinking about music production. One of them workflow things I very much love, for dialing in on the root or harmonic note of flat pitch loops, using #Reaper + #Span plugin. Loving the ctrl+click bell shape solo feature of Span all the way since when. 😍
My bad for not capturing the audio track for this clip, but visuals should do the talking (I hope). Sorry for lack of alt-text descs here - I just can't figure out how to pull it of with #Whalebird client.

Yet another day battling around all the wideband hiss (airflow etc.) in V8 engine bay recordings. Denoisers will make the overall sound muddy and/or introduce artifacts. You can't either train a denoiser with reference since the noise is all dynamic; amplitude and tonality change by engine rpm & car velocity. Sure seems like an untapped market for noise removal plugins :)

As someone who is hard of hearing, intelligible speech on TV and film is a pet peeve of mine. And it’s not just on the screen, it’s also a problem on the stage, even on Broadway.
As an actor, it’s something I strive to improve at: “natural” speech that is intelligible.
