Had a Pollywog (frog person) slinging baddies around with his tongue, a nature mage blowing dudes up with fiery pinecones, and a shadow priest leaping from shadow to shadow pursuing his enemies. I decided to make flash cards for all the NPCs in the first village my players will encounter. Both to be able to take notes and to have ready descriptions of each. A dozen cards later and I’m only halfway through. Not that they’ll meet a quarter of them the first session.

Everyone in Compton is poor and miserable.

@weirdadmiral I partly agree with most people here, but not entirely, so here's my hot take: Classes are definitely optional, but do make some sense. Hence, so widespread. Basically, it's an easy way to allow a group to have distinct abilities and roles (people get angry when a class steps on another's turf) and it works well for that, as a shorthand. Do we need so many classes? Is there rhyme or reason? I don't know, but #SotWW / #SotDL lets you take new classes every few levels, and I love it!
