  5. Pretty good sticker haul from @webstandards State of the Browser last week! #SotB #SotB26

  6. I have returned from @webstandards’ State of the Browser (#SotB #SotB26) feeling incredibly grateful to have been able to attend (and speak). An urgent and evergreen reminder that building a community around inclusion, diversity, and the safety to speak hard truths even when they aren’t popular is now more important than ever — good people of the web, unite!

  7. Heading out of London, and missing it already. #sotb26 was lovely; was great to see so many wonderful people. Seemed "everyone" was there!

  8. I thought it was the paparazzi at first but got a nice photo taken by @matuzo at #SotB26!

  9. I've long been confused by the changing Lighthouse ("Core Web Vital") metrics - and they depreciated Time To Interactive (TTI) just as more and more sites and web apps started loading static sites that got "hydrated" with JS later.

At State of the Browser, @zachleat talked about the Interactivity Dead Zone (IDZ) which is effectively TTI minus Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and I think it's a useful metric even if Lighthouse isn't measuring it any more.

  10. I had an absolutely wonderful time at #SotB26 yesterday, meeting lots of friends I've seen before, for the first time, and making lots of new ones.

The community and people are delightful, the talks are stellar, and overall I had an absolute blast.

Much love to everyone who was there! ❤️❤️❤️

  11. RE: social.vivaldi.net/@brucelawso

Look at all these lovely people. #SotB26 was excellent. Caught up with people I’ve known for two decades, met people I’ve known about for nearly as long, and cool new people who I’ll know from now on as well!

  12. Thoroughly enjoyed @[email protected] talk at #SotB26 yesterday. Didn’t get a chance to say thank you for @[email protected] , which we used to build a static archive of talk.galaxyzoo.org/boards/ when we turned off the old Rails API behind @[email protected] forums. Thousands of posts saved forever.

  13. Feeling so inspired and energised by the State of the Browser conference yesterday! 😁 The talks about accessibility, how web performance is also accessibility, and how Temporal will save us from JavaScript Date WTF moments, have got me thinking how I can prioritise these thing on my next project. Also loved spotting so many familiar avatars Mastodon in real life. Many thanks to @webstandards for putting on such a great event, I'll definitely be back next year! #SotB26

  14. I was too busy talking to lovely people to take any photos at State of the Browser or at the pub afterwards - an absolute pleasure, and I remain very grateful to be able to enjoy the company of these people who all have so much heart and soul.

So I snapped a selfie on the way home in front of an iconic London Underground logo behind a bench, while changing tube trains.

See you London, until next time - many thanks to @webstandards and all the organisers, notably @dletorey ❤️

  15. What I love about our community is how much we respect each other and each other's work. At #SotB26 I had immediately friendly and interesting conversations with everyone. That's not a given.

  16. I don't have proof of everyone I chatted to but I definitely chatted to @matuzo! #SotB26

  17. State of the Browser yesterday was superb. It was incredible to meet in person some folks who I have been following or interacting with online for years @matuzo , @anarodrigues , @zachleat , @jaffathecake , @bramus , @hdv , @cassiecodes , @rem .

  19. Here's the consultation i mentioned at #sotb26 I'm not kidding when I told you that the regularlors love to hear from developers rather than lobbyists. Doesn't need to be a structured doc. You can be anonymous. They simply want.to hear your view. brucelawson.co.uk/2026/on-appl

  20. Heading back after a great day at state of the browser, great talks as ever! Great people too, finally got to meet a few in real life.

Nice to see an actual UK tech scene, with people coming from the continent and even a couple from the US!
