A year or so ago I got a #soroban during an adhd hyperfoucus. After all this time in the graveyard of forgotten obsessions, I've started practising with https://www.sorobanexam.org/ and wow is it cool!
Side quest unlocked: git gud at doing basic arithmetic with it to ditch the calculator!

Eldest continues #soroban (Japanese abacus) 🧮 classes, including mental arithmetic #FlashAnzan techniques & regular drill practice on the computer…
This is currently a crazy physical and mental exercise where they run away from the computer, read the numbers to tally at a distance, then run back and type in answer 🤣
Apparently this helps maintain a small mental model in their (imaginary) field of view, leaving room for larger numbers in future. With some physical exercise as a bonus?
