Hargeisa regularly boasted that they would retake the unionist region and the time when they will try again seems near. Troops have been deployed around Oog in Western #Sool, roughly at the boundary between #Ishaaq and #Dhulbahante territory

Their new administration has been recognized as the 6th region of #Somalia in October. It has struggled to fully control its claimed territory however, including #Ayn, Western #Sool, and the coast of #Sanaag.

Interestingly, they labeled #Somaliland actions a “#genocide”. #Ishaaq-dominated Somaliland also bases the legitimacy of its claim for independence on a genocide carried out by federal forces against the Ishaaq clan in the 1980's.
