#TunesOnTuesday on Wednesday this week with "Think Spring," sadly still relevant in DC until the weather catches up with the change of season. Barbara Papendorp joined me for this demo recording of the song, which we've already added to our winter set lists. https://ohljazz.com/2024/03/27/tunes-on-tuesday-think-spring/ #songblog #jazzblog #musicblog #jazz #jazzmusic #songwriter #songwriting #composer #lyrics #piano #jazzpiano #music #winter #spring

#TunesOnTuesday shares the second draft of "At Sixty," a song I wrote last year just after passing that milestone. I didn't change the number but did rework the lyrics in hopes of making the story clearer. Still needs some work before it can leave the nest as a complete song. http://ohljazz.com/2024/02/27/tunes-on-tuesday-at-sixty/ #songblog #jazzblog #musicblog #jazz #jazzmusic #songwriter #songwriting #composer #lyrics #piano #jazzpiano #music #musician #jazztodon #aging #sixty #jazzpiano

#TunesOnTuesday on Wednesday this week with "I Love You, Shut Up," a song about telling the truth in your relationship. It's a love song, really. https://ohljazz.com/2024/02/21/tunes-on-tuesday-i-love-you-shut-up/

#TunesOnTuesday shares the song that led me to LA this past weekend for the #grammy festivities. "Let's Wander," which I wrote about Washington, DC, apparently reminds other people of their favorite cities. Maybe that will inspire other versions of the song... https://ohljazz.com/2024/02/05/tunes-on-tuesday-lets-wander-2/ #songblog #jazzblog #musicblog #jazz #jazzmusic #songwriter #songwriting #composer #lyrics #piano #jazzpiano #music #musician #grammys #letswander

#TunesOnTuesday shares another new song I'm writing during a January song-a-day challenge. #TunesOnTuesday revisits Billy Strayhorn's "Isfahan" to mark his Nov. 29 birthday. My 2021 post was solo, this is a virtual duet with Joel Bennett, adding a piano track to his fine solo performance for the Facebook group Jam of the Week. https://ohljazz.com/2023/11/28/tunes-on-tuesday-isfahan-2/

#TunesOnTuesday shares Naomi Shemer's "Lu Yehi | לו יהי" from 1973. For #TunesOnTuesday another song from this year's #FAWM 50/90. The prompt for this one was (as you might have guessed) "haunted." I started with "not haunted," which somehow led to this story about someone who's quite happy with a little haunting. https://ohljazz.com/2023/08/15/tunes-on-tuesday-haunted-not-haunted/ #songblog #jazzblog #musicblog #jazz #jazzmusic #songwriter #songwriting #haunted #composer #lyrics #piano #jazzpiano #music #musician #fawm5090

#TunesOnTuesday goes back to the standards with "All The Things You Are," he number two most popular standard in the book (and played here in two keys). This week's #TunesOnTuesday is a tribute to two online musical communities that have made me a better musician and songwriter. Shoutout to #FAWM and the #facebook group #JamOfTheWeek. When a #blues week comes up on the jam, as it did this week (number 488!), I usually write a new blues song. https://ohljazz.com/2023/07/18/tunes-on-tuesday-my-own-worst-enemy/ #songblog #jazzblog #musicblog #jazz #jazzmusic #songwriter #songwriting #composer #lyrics #piano #jazzpiano #music #musician #instamusic #performance

Sharing #TunesOnTuesday on Monday this week in honor of the 175th Emancipation Day (July 3), celebrating the revolt that forced the end of slavery in the Danish West Indies (now the US Virgin Islands). The tune for the day is "Be Free," the new single from The Lucky So & Sos that drops on July 7. https://ohljazz.com/2023/07/03/tunes-on-tuesday-be-free-emancipation-day/ #emancipationday #usvi #stcroix #songblog #jazzblog #musicblog #funkmusic #hiphop #befree #freedomsongs #newmusic #newrelease
