Those people in power definitely insult our critical thinking. I don’t want to say anything offensive because this man is a human being too. Maybe, without a fully functioning consciousness, yet he is…
Rolling him around in a wheelchair where everyone can see that there is probably only 10% of his consciousness left in a vessel that is barely alive and closer to the end than anything else…
This is an affront to us, and also to him and his family…

If you’d like to hear from the always brilliant @margaret about her time reporting in #Minneapolis including a bit of hope—why she thinks that The People will ultimately prevail, please enjoy this episode of Even More News (also available in podcast form; search for #someMoreNews )
One interesting tidbit:
She describes two independent community organizing efforts:
1. Folk watching, documenting, and alerting neighbors about #ICE and #DHS
2. #mutualAid e.g. feeding folk who, by virtue of either their citizenship status or the color of their skin, are sheltering in place
Was interesting to hear that there was more secrecy around the latter, to protect those in hiding
On a recent episode of #SomeMoreNews, they talked about asking politicians what their utopia would look like... and I sure don't like the picture that is emerging of an "AI utopia"

Cody’s Showdy knocks it out of the park again with a great breakdown of some of the problems in our platform-based, middleman-dominated, intermediated convenience economy. And highlights some areas to look at fixing first, to make things work better for customers, small businesses, and the gig workers in the middle.

Holy shit, I knew Miller was a black, seeping, rotting wound of a human being, but this is astonishing.
Thanks for the share, @tomgauld.bsky.social love your work!
I learned, via the always excellent #SomeMoreNews , that book bans are often spearheaded by a very small number of people, assisted by tools like BookLooks.
They also give concrete examples of way to push back against the attempts to ban.

Big Tech 🤝 Fascists,
please enjoy this compelling video essay by the always-excellent #SomeMoreNews
It's a long video, but these guys sum up the whole nostalgia mentality and how bad it can affect us very well. instead of watching reruns of something, consider spending an hour on this...

And wouldn't you know it: 2 months later there's a great #SomeMoreNews video about toxic nostalgia, how it leads to cultural stagnation, can get weaponised by racists as the groundwork for fascism. Not just now but literally before WW2.
It features that AI-generated video of fake #80s people talking about the feeling of "things were better back then". When in reality, nostalgia is just: "things were better back then FOR YOU because you were a 12 years old white kid."
The good folk at Some More News just did a deep dive on how book bans are spearheaded by a vanishingly small number of people who, as you note, didn’t read the books.
