I learned, via the always excellent #SomeMoreNews , that book bans are often spearheaded by a very small number of people, assisted by tools like BookLooks.
They also give concrete examples of way to push back against the attempts to ban.

And wouldn't you know it: 2 months later there's a great #SomeMoreNews video about toxic nostalgia, how it leads to cultural stagnation, can get weaponised by racists as the groundwork for fascism. Not just now but literally before WW2.
It features that AI-generated video of fake #80s people talking about the feeling of "things were better back then". When in reality, nostalgia is just: "things were better back then FOR YOU because you were a 12 years old white kid."
