  1. This process has involved a lot of somatic work, guided in part by some trainings and workshops led by Resmaa Menaken resmaa.com/ and some by Rev angel Kyodo williams revangel.com/ "love and justices are not two. without inner change, there can be no outer change; without collective change, no change matters." 3. No one but me (according to a search on the hashtag) is tagging #SomaticAbolition but I’m sure others are Interested in it. Are there other tags you’ve seen related to #embodied #somatic practices growing in an #abolition framework?

It’s all new to me. I feel called to this work, this way of living, as one of the only ways I’ll be able to develop the skills of imagination required to break free from racialized capitalism.

  5. CW: white person thinking about racism

Thinking about how Resmaa Menakem resmaa.com/about talks about white body supremacy using “bodies of culture,” “white bodies,” and “police bodies.”

  7. In a drive-through line, the truck in front of me has a “let’s go Brandon“ sticker and I am feeling a little shaky and unsafe in my body.

  9. I was under the impression that The Nap Bishop's work was for Black people, so I stayed away. I swear I saw that in her (Tricia Hersey's) twitter feed? But I heard her on a podcast saying it's for everyone, so I'm diving in! Here's her linktree with all the links: linktr.ee/thenapministry

Living with #ChronicPain and with #PTSD, I'm working with my therapist and friends in this new practice of #rest. And now I'm involving #mastodon! :-)

  11. CW: body weight mention

I made this t-shirt when I thought my favorite podcast (Maintenance Phase maintenancephase.com/) accepted offerings in their store. teepublic.com/t-shirt/34430323

It’s not beautiful, but the message is a source of strength for me.

  13. A lot of my posts are about how I *feel* about stuff. I'm getting deep into #SomaticAbolition and that involves lots of practice staying in my body and lots of noticing.

It might seem like I think "how I feel" is super important. It is, for me, but it's not something I think needs to be on other people's radar. I post about it to vent and also because I hope it might invite other people (especially white people like me) think about their own sensations.

  15. this "staying present in my body" stuff is still so freaking exhausting. who knew (I didn't!) life was so full of feelings??? nearly overwhelmingly joyful and nearly unbearably horrible!

  17. one of the problems with DiAngelo's "White Fragility" #WhiteFragility is one of the most racist-harm-causing qualities of those of us who are white in the USA is our lack of embodiment skills. so, yes, our fragility has harmful and racist consequences AND us denying our feelings does, too.

we white people need practices and spaces like #SomaticAbolition #therapy #SupportGroups #Recovery so we can learn to stay present in our body as we face the realities of racism and our part in it.
