  1. On the Calculation of Volume, I and II, by Solvej Balle

I finished Volume II late last night at a gallop. I did not want to read it: it's been moving forward balefully towards the top of my TBR queue for some months, and I've been avoiding it. 'Here I am. I am Literary. Knausgard has said that I am "absolutely, absolutely incredible" (note the significant double adjective). There are three more volumes of me to read when the translators and author have perfected them, and I am a massive European Work of Art.' It's very off-putting. These two […]

  2. Book 13: “On the Calculation of Volume (Book 1)” by #SolvejBalle.

A woman keeps waking up to Nov. 18th. Non-sci-fi with a sci-fi premise! Tara tests the boundaries of her circumscribed life, driven by curiosity, philosophy, and despair. Short, but it drags sometimes as you’re trapped in the monotony with her. Even though I’d like to learn what becomes of her, I don’t think I can read the full septology. Hubby said the 2nd didn’t add anything.

  4. "On the Calculation of Volume" by Solvej Balle

Fantastic book. I read it in one day. I don't think I've done that before.

It's a Danish book about a woman stuck in a time loop, like Groundhog Day, but with some notable differences. Like, if she buys things, she might still have them the next time she wakes up.

It's a seven-book series. Two have been translated to English so far. I'll have to learn Danish so I can read the rest 😅

  5. A new favourite author/book: Danish writer Solvej Balle and her On The Calculation of Volume, a literary fiction novel in 7 parts about a woman stuck in the same day, the 18th of November. I just finished the 2nd part and now have to wait for the next two to be released in English...on November 18. :ablobdundundun: Highly recommend, especially if you're currently having an existential crisis, lol.
