Well that was a lovely evening!
Some of the #YorkU extraordinarily short-lived #SolidarityEncampment youts were there as well.

And I got hustled inside quickly not because I merit VIP treatment, but because #CreepySpouseInDaHouse was outside annoying everyone.

The promised #JDL counter either never materialized or they arrived too late to do anything. There was not even a single disruption inside.
That went super smoothly.

Shitty white guy number 584,322 decided to come to the encampment to grace us with his wisdom, just as my LO shift was ending and I was on MY time.

I'm choosing not to post his photo, because, let's face it, he's fucking interchangeable with the 584,321 who've come before him. He just had the misfortune of getting my opinion of entitled douchebags who think that people are obligated to have THE SAME FUCKING CONVERSATION OVER AND OVER, with every random asshole who walks up.

Honestly, "what does this have to do with my race?" How about the fact that YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN TOLD THAT YOU'RE FUCKING REDUNDANT (he has now). That and the fact that it's never even occurred to you that YOU DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE some amazing, insightful tidbit that will set the world ablaze, is a testament to just how fucking coddled you have been.

If he was a FRACTION of the level of smart he thought he was, he would have run away while I was still grumbling quietly about "white entitlement" before it made it to the top of the hour and I was free to comment at full volume.

I need to sit at that gate more often when I am not obligated to grouse quietly at nonsense.

Says he ✌🏾"just wants to open a dialogue"✌🏾 about what's happening in Gaza.

Was still there when I left, 20 minutes ago.

He was briefly joined by a KKKonvoy Karen who kept trying to get everyone to remove their masks because ✌🏾"Covid is over and they don't work anyway"✌🏾. Also a whiny blonde woman with a purse that would feed a— how did you put it, @Cherrycola — family of five for a week? Anyhoo, she was mad at the whole world.

Not really sure why Israeli settler-colonialists feel the need to come be enraged by the thing they know will enrage them. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Also, all the n-bombs that have been dropped in my earshot since the encampment opened have come from — *dun dun dun* — the Israelis. i guess they want to make sure we know what they're saying, so not bothering with Yiddish. I mean, if the point is to disprove the "Israel is a racist state" chant, you're doing a really bad job.

On the plus side, we had a visit from Sophie the corgi.

How to Stay Safe During a Tear Gas
Attack - From a US Marine
📣📣📣📣📣
This is for the protesters

I am a former Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Defense Specialist in the US Marine Corps. Step by step, this
is how to stay as safe as possible when exposed to tear gas. I hope this is helpful.

EDIT: HERE ARE SOME FAQ's!
Q: Does milk help?.
A: NO! Milk is a low level acid and will make the sensation worse/last longer. THE BEST AND FASTEST way to alleviate symptoms is fresh air! Wait a LONG time (hours) before showering. Wash hands
with soap at any time.

Q: Will it cause an asthma attack?
A: Tear gas is not specifically designed to trigger an asthma attack, however it is a possibility.

Please note: I am NOT a medic nor posturing as one. Follow the protocol you're familiar with and get to a hospital
if you feel an attack coming on. PLEASE talk to your doctor about any/all specific health concerns before putting yourself in an uncertain position.

Q: How about a mini fan?
A: YES! Great idea. A mini fan will help create airflow, therefore helping the powder dry.*

Q: Leaf blower?
A: Not advisable, especially at close range. The wind is too strong, and too direct. Runs the risk of pushing
powder further into the pores. Mini fan for a gentle wind is a good idea.

Q: Can I wear my contacts?
A: Not advisable. Wear glasses if you have them. lf powder gets between your eye and your contact, it could potentially scratch your cornea.

Q: Should I wear swim goggles?
A: YES! Excellent idea! Thick plastic swim or ski goggles, when worn correctly, could be very effective
in protecting your eyes!

‼️Note: powder will collect around the outside. Be careful taking them off.

Q: What else can I wear to protect myself?
A: Long sleeves, pants, high socks, closed-toe shoes, scarves, hats, and gloves will do a lot to protect your
skin! Cover as much of yourself as you can. It won't stop all of the powder from reaching your skin, but a barrier will stop some.

Q: Will it come out of my clothes?
A: YES! Wash them separately from other laundry twice. It will all come out.
