I love when door-to-door salespeople gaslight me to act like my being upset that they’re ignoring our “no soliciting,” signs isn’t OK.
#Vivint showed up again today (they come by once or twice a year) and got an earful from me.
He claimed he was just “informing me we’re doing work in your area, it’s not soliciting.”
Gurl, bye. You’re trying to sell me shit I don’t want. There’s literally no need to “inform” me.

I'm pissed off and disappointed.
I just received a #telemarketing phone call on behalf of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, #soliciting #donations.
It sounded pretty human-ish -- I believe it was using actual recorded sentences of a human being - but they were edited/glued-together in a slightly unnatural way. I believe it was an #IVR system.
So in the middle of one of its speeches, I interrupted with "You're actually a #recorded announcement, aren't you?"
And it replied with some meaningless interjection followed by "No, I'm a real live #agent". And it wasn't. It definitely wasn't. I tested it further and it immediately failed, giving nonsensical replies and then suddenly switching to a "thank you for completing..." (which I hadn't) announcement and disconnecting.
Legitimate #charities shouldn't be employing telemarketing #robots which lie and claim to be #humans. Full stop.
#Shame on the CNIB.

#EricAdams was indicted in Sept on charges including #bribery, #fraud & #soliciting illegal foreign campaign contributions after an investigation that began in 2021. He pleaded not guilty, maintained his innocence & contended that he is being prosecuted because he criticized the #Biden admin.
In recent wks, Adams, a Democrat, has curried favor w/ #Trump, traveling to Mar-a-Lago, attending the inauguration & saying that…he will share any criticisms of the president in private.

The indictment, which was unsealed on Thurs morning, follows an investigation that started in 2021 & has focused at least in part on whether he conspired w/ the #Turkish government to receive illegal foreign campaign contributions & whether he took official actions on its behalf.

I generally listen to deep long form conversations (like Sean Carroll’s Mindscape) or comedy podcasts (like Russell and Jon’s 6Music radio show), but I’m open to anything; I’ll give it a try if you say you like it.
