Dev & I been experimenting a lot with our solar cooker this summer, especially after a part failed. We couldn't cook food in water, so we've been grinding legumes(chickpeas, lentils...) and certain grains(rice, buckwheat...) into flour.
Doing this reduces cooking time, and as a result we've been eating a lot more legumes.
We grind the flour in advance with our grain mill and keep them in jars.

Pretty good #Saturday:
1. Didn't want to heat up the house so I made #suntea in a #masonjar on the patio. Didn't want to turn the oven on either, so I set my plate and the frozen meal out on the hot patio as well, covered. #SolarCooking!
2. Went to bed when I was tired instead of pushing to stay up later. Woke up #rested for a perfect #sunrise.
3. Repotted a bunch of #sorrel which is becoming a regular additive to my #fresh green salads.

MWAHAHAHA I have made cinnamon buns in the solar cooker!!
**Evil cackling continues**
I used this recipe: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/21461/ooey-gooey-cinnamon-buns/ with modifications: 1 rise (instead of 2), no glaze, I used regular temperauture butter instead of melted butter in the filling (as per one of the first comments), I used almonds instead of walnuts, and i added raisins soaked in a mix of water and vanilla extract.
I only did 1 rise because it was getting late into the afternoon, there was barely enough sun, and I am impatient.
Very happy with how they came out (and I love how tiny they are!
The recipe suggested to roll the dough out into a 14"x18" sheet, and I did that, but it seemed way too thick for the solar cooker. So instead I split the dough in half and made 2 14"x18" sheets. And it fit into the cooker perfectly.
I only had enough daylight to do 1 batch today, but I still rolled and sliced the rest of the dough and put it in the fridge. So I can make more whenever there's sun 🌞
Finally, if you'd like a recommendation for a solar punk novel, I recommend "the arrest" by Jonathan Lethem.

It's gotten very sunny, so the solar cooker is getting a lot of use.
Pic 1: Yesterday I made bread pudding with day-old danishes I got from a local bakery ($8 for 4 danishes, but each danish is quite large). I also used eggs from @saltphoenix , sweetened condensed milk diluted with water, cinnamon, and raisins soaked in a mix of water and a bit of vanilla extract. I didn't soak the danishes, just poured the mixed liquids over the top. It came out pretty delicious (and I have very high standards for bread pudding).
Pic 2: I just put a bunch of Lima beans from the garden into the solar cooker, for hummus later. I love the limas - they're so hearty and filling. They're easier and faster to shell compared to pigeon peas (which also do well at my place), but they do need something to vine on, and the plant doesn't last forever the way the pigeon pea trees do. Plus, they seem to produce at all times, whereas pigeon peas are mostly concentrated ~twice a year. I have plenty of both in dried form, but they both cook much faster when fresh.
