We're heading up to Earitjlh to get the last defects fixed then we are FREE to cruise! We're now moored up at Brampton and heading north tomorrow, or maybe Wednesday, who cares, we're taking our sweet time and enjoying our new found freedom. #solar #boatlife #solarpunk

The goal is to turn the grey shed in the picture 90° so the door is facing to the left, then get an identical shed and place it facing the first shed with a gap in the middle to get things in and out.
AND THEN... because the roof lines will face south, put solar panels on top of both. 😊 ☀️ ⚡️

Habe soeben das Fiona-Gallagher-Diplom bestanden und aus einem Handyladekabel, Alufolie, Isolierband und Panzertape eine *auf Anhieb funktionierende* Verbindung zwischen Solarpanelen-Output und Batterie-DC-Stecker gemacht. Das mag für viele banal klingen; für mich ist das ein Erfolg, den ich nie vergessen werde. Zumal immer noch nichts brennt!

Made some holes, fixed some holes. We hire original roofer for repair & their long term warranty against leaks on work.
Always interesting that to fix a hole, you generally have to make a slightly bigger hole so you can clean up the smaller hole. Kinda like surgery, except on buildings.

We’ve had these #solar panels online for ten days and we’ve apparently already saved the equivalent of 20kg of coal with a 150kg reduction in CO2 being released into the atmosphere. That’s equivalent to planting 8 trees, apparently. Sure, it’s saving us money, but it’s the green impact that’s the most important thing.

Turns out the Pi I had attached to my Victron controller in the solar shed died the final death. it was a repurporsed Norns controller anyway, so I don't feel too bad.
Dug through the box and found this old guy that used to run Octopi for me. Turns out it's pretty capable. Gonna repurpose it and see if I can get a little display on it. Camera is questionable :)

With an electric car, a heat pump, and an all electric kitchen, I need more solar panels. I barely eat out a surplus in the longest sunniest month of the year.

Well that's good news. For comparison, the maximum output of a fully operational battlestation ... er ... Huntly Power Station is 953 MW. So our solar yield isn't yet enough to replace a single thermal power plant. But, there's a lot of disused roof space in Aotearoa, and solar panels are getting better and *cheaper* with every generation.

Lets start large de-desert-ification tests and projects which needs many many new words.
If we covered the Sahara in forests it would go a long way to taking out EXXON's CO2 from the atmosphere and reducing that driver to climate collapse.

It seems that there now is a micro inverter for balcony solar generation available in the US. Can be plugged into any outlet. Not sure in which states this is already legal. Still a bit pricy at $350, compared to European ones. I just looked, in Germany you can get a similar inverter and 2 solar panels for under $300
