  2. Elaine Ingham passed away on February 18, 2026. Despite her pioneering work in #soilscience & the #SoilFoodWeb and her huge influence on the #regenerativeAgriculture movement since the 1980's she did not even have an entry in the German Wikipedia - so that's changed now.

  6. @MelodyWainscott @Sheril loved that book, finished it only a couple of months ago! If you're interested in diving deeper, I'd like to recommend this YT Channel - lots of insight into the correlation of microorganisms and the fungal web, and how they interact with plants to form the #SoilFoodWeb youtube.com/@soilfoodwebschool

  10. i used to think the presence of mushrooms in my yard was a bad sign. Not sure what I thought it meant? Too much moisture? Mold? Who knows but I didn’t like seeing them even though I like eating store-bought mushrooms. But, I now know their presence is usually a sign of active, healthy soil.

Here’s a nice mushroom growing near my onions

  13. One exciting thing about this project is its multi-faceted focus on community

Below ground, we're looking at the #SoilFoodWeb and effectiveness of adding either commercially available #mycorrhizal fungi or on-farm cultivated "Indigenous Micro-Organisms" (IMOs) to tree potting mixes and transplant field sites

Above ground, looking at the impact those organisms have on plant health and productivity, as well as the farmer knowledge networks needed to grow & sustain #agroforestry based livelihoods

  17. While some of the content of this article is debateable (fungi vs plants as lead operators when in fact IMO it's a symbiotic relationship where each needs the other) it has much of interest especially in building a mycorrhizal rich and productive food forest soil food web.

  24. We need to get the biology in our soils right to build the #SoilFoodWeb

Stop throwing chemicals into the earth and build soil instead, you don't need Big Chem when nature does it for free and far better!
