Purchased (from a major retailer, not proud of that but it is what it is) four Mini PCs each for $129 U.S. Intel N150, 12gb ram, 2.5gbps nic, for substantially less than a 32gb #dram #sodimm kit alone! 4 whole computers (without storage or OS. The version with a 128gb ssd and Windows is $169.) These for a #cluster, so 16 cores, disturbed 48gb memory. Yes, existing old 10gbps nfs server and a small 10/2.5gbps switch.
But with #RAM prices out of control? ~$60 per core and 48gb #MPI #compute!

Now that the trend of soldering RAM into #Laptops is taking off from #Apple, #Qualcomm and #AMD, there is #CAMM.
The #SODIMM market will die, and CAMM manufacturing will have to shift to desktops where upgradeability and performance are core features.

hmm, looks like the #EEEPC 900 series used #DDR2, while this #AspireOne uses #SODIMM #DDR3, so I guess that's out of the question. Maybe I can find some cheap RAM sticks on #Finn instead. :)
Though with hardware prices here in northern #Norway, even for #used #secondHand, it's probably not worth it.
