"A new #study claims that individuals possessing higher levels of the personality trait openness are less prone to #antisemitic attitudes, and that this relationship is partially mediated by interpersonal contact with #Jewish individuals. This is based on #research -published in the August issue of #PersonalityandIndividualDifferences.

#TaliaMorstead and #AnitaDeLongis from the Department of #Psychology at the #University of #BritishColumbia conducted the study. The #researchers set out to explore the #psychosocial mechanisms underlying antisemitic attitudes, noting that “#antisemitism is an enduring phenomenon with parallels to other forms of #prejudice yet demonstrates a distinctive capacity to adapt in rhetorical form to the prevailing #sociocultural context."

“In fragmented and intensively managed remnant urban green spaces, enabling natural regeneration is crucial to sustain ecosystem functioning and associated services. Natural regeneration therefore offers an important lens into ecological resilience in human-modified landscapes. Here [the authors] present one of the most comprehensive field-based assessments of urban plant diversity in the Afrotropics, comprising over 25,000 naturally regenerating woody plant individuals of 206 species (39% native) across 329 vegetation patches in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Landscape-level native species diversity declined with greater building complexity, density and socio-economic development, whereas exotic species showed no consistent associations with determinants of urban characteristics. Native species richness was highest in ‘sacred’ forest fragments, many of which contain historic remains dating back to pre-colonial times. Notably, seven of the ten most species-rich patches were located in such sites. [Their] findings highlight the potentially important role of these sites in sustaining native species diversity and indicate how socio-cultural factors can present both opportunities and barriers for tropical urban conservation and restoration...”

Social experience design examines the #SocioCultural ecosystem that emerges by the #technology landscape and is determined by the shape of our #tech that it must grown on. Think like organic moss, that is able to take a foothold in the nooks and crannies of slick aluminium roofs. #SocialWeb is a forest.

An observation is that we generally severely underestimate the impact of "adding an extra online channel, so now we can be social remotely". This way of perceiving social totally misses how everything is different online, and at the same time that many things should / can be very similar to how we do offline #SocialNetworking for ages. Increasing social bandwidth on the wire.
