Just received a message from #society6 that my account will be removed, due to "strategic changes" to their marketplace. While I didn't sell a ton of work, I did have steady payments coming in. I'm not crushed, but disappointed for sure. :ablobsad:

i could see this coming as they started charging artists fees for shipping their own products, then fees and restrictions to the amount of art that could be posted, etc…
i won't miss them…

I wonder if I should get back to #painting... Part of me wants it, another part of me finds it a waste of time. There's no market left for it anymore after the total #enshittification of #Instagram, #Society6, #RedBubble. Yes, I enjoy painting, but I enjoy it more when I can share it with people who can actually see the posts. #PixelFed had been a good outlet, and I love it, but with only 20k active users it's just not enough momentum.

So, I'll likely do a longer write up on this, but after a few years of largely not trying to sell #art due to not completing a lot of works or otherwise not tending to things, I had intended to start up the old lines, and I fine them either broken (#RedBubble), shut down (#DeviantArt Prints) or doing just squirt-of-piss dumb cash grabs (all of the above, plus #Society6).
Everyone wants art, very few want to make actual artists lives remotely worth the effort.
Maybe #etsy?

The #enshittification of #Society6 is here, as they now require #artists to pay to upload #art on their site in any meaningful manner.
Interestingly, they had a lapse in software logic that I spotted, that could cost them $millions during the Black Friday sale season. I pondered if I should tell them and ask them to fix it, or punish them with my silence. I pondered hard. But then I realized that artists won't get paid, and customers won't get their #Christmas gifts. So I emailed them about it.

Both #Society6 and #RedBubble seem to be producing their stuff in the Netherlands for #Europe which isnt't ideal either for the #UK. I did not have to pay #customs which is nice but it took about two weeks for the stuff to arrive.
I think I will give #Inprnt another go, because their quality is next-level amazing and I'll see if you still need to pay #customs (they're producing in the #US).

#Society6 was still kinda worse: The #giclee #artprint I ordered was horrible unsharp (not sure how they even did that, you could see that the edges were blurry on the sides but sharp at the top and buttom) and a poster was very #glossy and #desaturated. So I'm probably not gonna use them even though the #CustomerService was amazingly fast and promised to refund me the money for the bad print.

I've been testing out #Society6 recently after having made better but still not good experiences with #RedBubble than in the past (mostly concerning their #print #quality, I ordered a #poster and it wasn't bad, not as horrible as the #stickers I ordered years ago, but nothing to write home about either).
