European State of the Climate 2025 report published
Warming is reducing #snow and #ice cover, while dangerously high surface air temperatures, #drought, and #heatwaves, as well as record-high #ocean temperatures, are affecting regions across the continent, from the #Arctic to the #Mediterranean. The result is increasing impacts – from record heatwaves over land and at sea, to devastating #wildfires, and accelerating #biodiversity loss – with consequences for #societies and #ecosystems across #Europe.
The #ESOTC report is produced by the #EU’s #Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), implemented by #ECMWF, and the World Meteorological Organization (#WMO), and brings together the work of around 100 scientific contributors.

_Mathematical Logic Quarterly_ (pub'd by #Wiley) has been the official journal of the Deutsche Vereinigung für Mathematische Logik und für Grundlagenforschung der exakten Wissenschaften (DVMLG). The DVMLG was initially happy with Wiley for respecting its editorial independence. But in an April open letter it charges "that the attitudes and procedures of Wiley have changed considerably in the last few years and that commercial and profit-oriented interests are now influencing the editorial process negatively." DVMLG will not renew with Wiley when the current contract expires at the end of 2025.

If you are #skeptical that these sorts of large-scale, centrally-planned #interventions can solve social problems that have existed in #human #societies for hundreds or thousands of years, then you fall towards the bottom end of the #rationalism axis.
If you think about your #beliefs in these two areas, you might find yourself #surprised at where you fit on the chart, and what other belief systems fall near you. It's a lot more #insightful than the #meaningless left-right single axis.

Hi ILR,So much bad #rascism back then.
Many negative ideas are put on #ThomasMalthus as #Malthusian but Malthus did provide positive scenarios around #education.
Educated #societies with access to #contraception and #familyPlanning services achieve lower #fertility - a great and #humane #scenario that #Malthus thought about.
#Elites don't want us knowing this. They want us to associate #populationGrowth with good and Malthus with evil, a from of #trickery for more hapless #workers.
