  4. Aura Farming Competitions: When Looking Cool Became a Real-World Sport. Meet the Champions Turning Internet Memes Into Real Battles

Pacu Jalur teams race along the Kuantan River in Indonesia, the traditional boat-racing culture that helped inspire the viral aura-farming phenomenon. Image: Wikimedia Commons, public domain.

Dear Cherubs, aura farming has gone from imaginary internet points to actual public competitions, complete with judges, crowds, cash prizes and, yes, champions. Because apparently simply being cool in private was never going to be enough.

    FROM MEME TO COMPETITION

“Aura” is internet slang for charisma, confidence, style or that mysterious ability to command attention without apparently trying. “Farming” comes from gaming, where players repeatedly perform actions to collect resources or points.

Put the two together and you get “aura farming”: doing something that supposedly increases your aura. A dramatic entrance? Points. A perfectly timed meme gesture? More points. Looking painfully confident while doing something completely ridiculous? Apparently, jackpot.

The phenomenon became globally associated with Rayyan Arkan Dikha, the Indonesian boy whose dancing at the front of a traditional Pacu Jalur racing boat went viral in 2025. The performance was part of an established Indonesian tradition, not an aura competition, but social media rapidly turned it into the ultimate example of effortless “aura.” According to Indonesia’s official tourism site, Pacu Jalur is a long-established cultural boat-racing tradition in Riau.

By August 2026, the meme had moved decisively offline. Euronews and AFP reported organised Aura Battles in Mexico, where competitors faced one another using poses, dances, facial expressions, viral gestures and meme references. The audience and judges effectively decide who has delivered the most convincing display of digital-era charisma.

    MEET THE CHAMPIONS

One of the names now attached to the movement is El Kakas, the nickname of Sherman Mendoza, who became the first reported champion of Tucumán’s aura-farming tournament in Argentina. Local reporting says the August competition at Plaza Urquiza included three contests, with El Kakas winning two of them.

El Kakas has since gone beyond competing and started teaching his techniques. Reports say his demonstrations include the viral “six seven” gesture, mewing-inspired poses, distinctive movements and, naturally, his trademark hair movement. He has effectively turned “looking cool” into a workshop. Capitalism remains undefeated.

Mexico has produced another documented winner: 16-year-old Kaled Rosales Salazar won an Aura Battle in Mexico City. Euronews reported that he received a 3,000-peso prize, with the competition judged around creativity, humour, confidence and the ability to command attention.

Costa Rica has also produced a locally celebrated winner. John Vaar became known after winning an aura battle at the University of Costa Rica’s El Pretil, where he estimated around 300 people were watching. He described himself online as the country’s first aura-farming champion, although this was a local event rather than an internationally recognised championship.

That distinction matters. There is currently no universally recognised “World Aura Farming Championship” or single governing body that crowns one global champion. The competitions are developing independently, with different organisers, judging systems and prizes.

The appeal is obvious once you understand the joke. Participants are competing in a language built from memes, TikTok gestures, gaming terminology and exaggerated confidence. The crowd understands the references, the performer gets a few seconds to deliver, and everyone gets content for their phone.

As noted by thisclaimer.com, internet culture increasingly blurs the line between watching entertainment and becoming part of it. Aura battles are a particularly strange example because the audience isn’t just watching the performance — its reaction can determine the winner.

And then there is the slightly more serious question: where are the sponsors? Aura battles already have several ingredients brands normally spend heavily trying to manufacture — young audiences, live participation, viral clips, recognisable personalities, crowd reactions and highly shareable moments. The competitions are still fragmented and relatively new, so there is no obvious global commercial structure yet. But that may be precisely the opportunity. A sportswear brand, gaming company, youth-focused platform or even a major entertainment sponsor could potentially turn an aura battle into a recurring live event, with branded challenges, prizes and social-media content built into the format. Whether that becomes a genuine entertainment business or simply another internet phase remains to be seen. But from a marketing perspective, there is certainly something here worth watching.

Whether aura farming becomes a lasting competitive format or disappears when the algorithm finds its next obsession is impossible to know. For now, though, the champions are real, the battles are real, and apparently your teenager’s suspiciously confident walk may be worth more than you thought.

  12. Instagram Finally Lets Users Rearrange Profile Grid Posts: What You Need to Know

Instagram has officially rolled out one of its most requested features, giving users more control over how their profiles look.

Beginning June 8, Instagram users can now rearrange the order of posts displayed on their profile grid, ending years of frustration for creators, businesses, influencers, and everyday users who wanted greater flexibility in showcasing their content.

Until now, Instagram profiles displayed posts strictly in chronological order, meaning the newest content automatically appeared at the top of a user’s grid. While users could pin a limited number of posts, they couldn’t fully customize the layout of their profile.

That changes with Instagram’s latest update.

What Is Instagram’s New Grid Rearrangement Feature?

The new feature allows users to manually move posts around their profile grid and place content exactly where they want it. This gives users the ability to create a more curated and visually appealing profile without having to delete and repost older content.

For content creators, photographers, brands, and businesses, the update opens up new opportunities to:

    • Highlight important content
    • Improve profile aesthetics
    • Create cohesive visual storytelling
    • Showcase products and services more effectively
    • Organize content by themes or campaigns

Why This Matters for Businesses and Creators

For Raleigh-area businesses and local creators, Instagram remains one of the most important social media platforms for connecting with customers and audiences.

The ability to rearrange posts means businesses can now:

    • Keep promotions visible longer
    • Feature seasonal campaigns
    • Highlight customer testimonials
    • Showcase best-performing content
    • Maintain a professional brand appearance

This update could be particularly valuable for restaurants, event organizers, real estate professionals, photographers, nonprofits, and local influencers looking to maximize their Instagram presence.

How to Rearrange Posts on Instagram

    To use the new feature:

    1. Open your Instagram profile.
    2. Access profile editing options.
    3. Select the option to edit your grid layout.
    4. Drag and drop posts into your preferred positions.
    5. Save your new profile arrangement.

The feature is rolling out to all Instagram users beginning June 8, so if you don’t see it immediately, make sure your app is updated and check again soon.

    A Win for User Customization

Instagram users have been requesting profile grid customization for years. The platform has gradually introduced more profile management tools, including pinned posts and enhanced creator features, but full grid rearrangement has remained at the top of users’ wish lists.

With this update, Instagram is giving users more creative control while helping brands and creators better showcase their content.

As social media platforms continue evolving, features like this highlight the growing importance of personal branding, content strategy, and visual storytelling online.

  23. 3 red flags Ayra Starr’s mum says you should never ignore

    Story Highlights

On January 6, 2026, Ayra Starr’s mother listed three critical reasons for ending specific friendships, including the leaking of secrets to spouses, husbands crossing personal boundaries, and a refusal to take accountability. She emphasized that protecting her peace required removing people who drained her energy or violated her trust.

Image Credit: Social Media / Instagram

Ayra Starr (Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe) often dominates the headlines with her chart-topping hits, but this time, her mother is the one sparking a viral conversation about emotional intelligence. She took to social media on January 6, 2026, to explain why she recently cut off three close associates after years of friendship.

The celebrity parent used her personal experiences to teach a masterclass on setting boundaries, proving that even long-term relationships must have limits. While fans often focus on industry news, such as when Rema throws shade at Ayra Starr over New York move, this candid revelation shifts the spotlight to the universal struggles of maintaining healthy adult friendships.

    1. The confidentiality breach: Leaking secrets to spouses

She identified the first major red flag as a lack of discretion regarding private “women-related” conversations. The mother explained that she would share confidential thoughts with this friend, only to find out the friend had reported everything to her husband the very next day.

This betrayal immediately destroyed the trust necessary for their bond to survive. She noted that a true friend understands that certain discussions are privileged and should not become dinner table gossip for a spouse who was not part of the conversation.

    2. The boundary crosser: When husbands get too comfortable

The second red flag involved a friend whose husband failed to respect the lines between his wife’s social circle and his own. Ayra Starr’s mother described how this man would call her directly to report his movements, such as telling her he was in London, which she found deeply inappropriate.

She firmly stated that her loyalty lies with the wife, and she has no desire for a separate friendship with the husband. This strict adherence to professional and personal lines recalls the respect seen when Don Jazzy confirms Ayra Starr sent him money to show appreciation, proving that clear boundaries foster healthier relationships.

    3. The accountability gap: Complaining without changing

For the final red flag, she pointed to a friend who refused to take responsibility for her own life choices despite decades of dissatisfaction. This individual had spent 20 years complaining that her husband, Segun, failed to pay for bills, yet she never took any action to change her situation.

Ayra’s mum questioned why the friend continued to report the same issues after two decades instead of finding a solution. She concluded that cutting off such repetitive negativity was the only way to protect her mental space from being used as a permanent dumping ground for complaints.

    Protecting personal peace

She ended her message by asking her followers if they believed she overreacted, though her tone suggested she remains confident in her decision. By prioritizing her peace over history, she has set a new standard for what she accepts in her inner circle.
