It identifies practical policy levers that governments, development partners and multilateral institutions can mobilise to support the #SSE and move beyond growth-centred models.

Yes, social enterprises and co-ops have to operate within a state-corporate system, they're not magically immune from the effects of this just because they have non-corporate or even anti-corporate ways of working, or legal structures. Their mere existence can't and won't solve all the problems our societies face.

But the more we can build the solidarity economy, the more resources we have to do the other work that's needed.

What about having other sustainable revenue models? Platform cooperatives, social enterprises etc. Maybe web 1.0 got corporatized because donation-based services run by unpaid hobbyists can't keep up with platforms using VC money to pay fulltime salaries to staff?

@self intriguing thoughts, thanks for taking the time to share them. I think the dynamics of swarms and crowdfunding are what they are. I see #PlatformCooperatives like #Stocksy or #SocialEnterprises like #Scoop.co.nz as the most realistic way of creating a secure living for those whose creative and intellectual work contributes to the commons. It requires building organisations, instead of just trying to get passing swarms into a hive ;)

@Wolf480pl see my earlier posts about #Section230. If the host is liable, they can't take the risk of allowing (public-facing) user-generated content on their platform. You could make those rules apply only to commercial businesses, not community-hosting. But what about #PlatformCooperatives? Are they businesses or communities? What about #SocialEnterprises? Do we want legal risk preventing them from running user-generated content hosts?
