You MUST file your next #taxes jointly with your spouse if you are 65+ in the #USA , married, & seek the $6,000 tax break ("enhanced deduction for seniors") that you could get with having #SocialSecurity income.
The filing status of "married filing separately" does NOT qualify.
This enhanced credit was initiated after last summer's spending bill and will expire in tax year 2028.

I recently had an appointment at the Social Security office to apply to manage Uncle's Social Security for him, and to request a replacement card since he lost the old one.
I was seen on time. The application process was painless and it was clear by the end why it needed to be done in person. The replacement card arrived six days later.
From where I'm sitting, it seems the front-line folks at Social Security are doing their best to hold the line against Trump.
