  1. I had such an incredible experience at #SOBP2024! 🧠 More than just a conference, it was a chance to reconnect with old friends and make new connections. Grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in cutting-edge research and vibrant discussions! #Ketamine #Depression #SuicidePrevention

  2. The thing about scientific conferences is, I get to hear and see some of the latest techniques, findings, and new models presented, and catch up on the current trends in thinking about the topics in a way I can't get from reading the literature on my own.

I'm good at integrating findings across the literature, but it's really different to have techniques I'm not familiar with explained by people who are good at linking it to the concepts I do know well.

  3. My brain is full. 😆 #SOBP2024

But I have had so many great conversations! Though this is the year where I've had multiple mentoring conversations, helping assistant and early associate profs think about their careers and approaches to their research programs. And the usual undergrad and grads who randomly ask for advice. 😁

I grow old, I grow old (I shall wear my trousers rolled...).

  4. Hey #SOBP2024 community! As a Stanford Postdoc in #interventionalpsychiatry, I've worked on #brainstimulation and #ketamine clinical trials for treatment-resistant #depression. It's my second year here and I couldn't be more thrilled! Look out for my poster presentation (F151) tomorrow. I'm eager to connect with fellow researchers and share our data.

If there's one thing everyone in biomedical research can agree on, is that the arc of medical research takes for freakin' ever. Over the past few days I'v ebeen hearing examples that took 30 years, 40 years, from the initial promise to an actual clinical treatment for depression, heart disease, you name it. No one career can do it all.

We don't get into science for quick rewards. 😁
