Following the escape, the remaining inmates were killed and the camp was promptly closed by the Germans. Though Sobibor’s six gas chambers could exterminate 1200 people at a time, it was the smallest of the death camps.

Op 27 januari 1945 werd concentratiekamp Auschwitz-Birkenau bevrijd: een gebeurtenis die in januari 2025 op vele plekken in binnen- en buitenland werd herdacht. Bijvoorbeeld in het Noordrijn-Westfaalse Herford, waar de herdenking was georganiseerd door vijf leerlingen van het het Ravensberg Gymnasium. No two events are ever the same and we can't possibly know what would have happened if the #Sobibór uprising would have been more "successful" or if the underlying situations would have been more "similar". The larger truth that people will resort to (even unreasonable) #violence under the ultimate pressure of possible #annihilation or perpetual #enslavement still sticks and is therefore a valid point to make (in our humble opinion).

IMHO, The Sobibór comparison is inappropriate. ASFAIK, the Sobibór escapees did not murder any Polish civilians. And the October 7 attack was not a mass escape of civilians.
