Just spent 4 days in game and 3 iRL hours trying to tow a dead truck back to the garage. I'm not done yet. At this point, since I started trying to pull the dead truck out, I've disabled two other trucks, twice, and repeatedly got a lowboy trailer stuck.

Imagine physics of this game backported to #SnowRunner! It's my dream 😑

Been working at getting my #Logitech G920 racing wheel up and running with #Snowrunner on my #SteamDeck in preparation for the #SteamMachine & general #SteamOS use. Needed to install usb_modeswitch to get the wheel to switch to PC mode when connected, but otherwise it’s been very smooth.

I can get Snowrunner to detect the wheel, map everything correctly, and it works as expected. The only issue is that there is zero force feedback. It’s not a system issue as far as I can tell as I get FFB on the wheel in #Forza and #Dirt, but not Snowrunner. Anyone have ideas? I’m inclined to say it’s a Snowrunner problem, but I’m not sure if I should try using ffbwrap to see if I limit the updates in case Snowrunner is flooding the wheel with commands and breaking the queue? But my impression is that would be delayed FFB, not no FFB.

The snow map in Expeditions is a breath of fresh air. It's so sad they decided to finish content updates this early. Honestly, it's my favorite game from Saber Interactive.

Today in #SnowRunner I drove along a muddy road, pulled a stuck car out of a swamp, delivered some wood and steel to a bridge construction, fitted a snorkel to my truck, cleared a landslide, rolled a ute, bought some tyres, and admired a sunset from a mountain top.

I bought SnowRunner earlier this week and I’ve been quietly impressed with how much game there is within this title.

For those who haven’t heard of this game, it’s an open world off roading truck simulator, which isn’t something I’d even give a second look normally. What caught my attention was the simulation of the mud and snow which gets carved out and chopped up when you drive over it. The physics simulation and the mesh deformation just impressed me, so for $22 I thought I’d check it out.

As far as driving games go, I’ve never played anything slower. I spent so much time with my truck bogged axle deep in mud moving at a crawl, or slower. This, again, doesn’t sound like something I’d be into, but weirdly, it turned into a really cool experience. The environment is very highly detailed and the open world nature of the game means that you can find yourself planning out some elaborate scheme involving multiple vehicles to complete your mission.

Oh yeah, the missions… As far as I can tell, the story is that the entire area has suffered from some kind of disaster, like a massive cyclone, or something like that. Everything is flooded, roads are washed out, bridges have collapsed, towns are cut off, and you’re there to help everyone out, with your trusty truck! So you have to carry wood and steel to construction sites, travel to and interact with civil infrastructure, carry supplies to local businesses and farms, rescue other vehicles that have gotten stuck, that sort of thing. There’s a whole campaign, because doing a mission like clearing a land slide will open up new areas and missions. There’s multiple maps and over a hundred vehicles. Also a ton of mods and a possibly unhealthy number of DLC.

SnowRunner was released in 2020 and it’s still very active with new DLC still being developed. It runs on Windiz, Mac, and most of the consoles, including Switch. It’s single player or co-op with up to three other players.

Yeah, it’s cathartically stressful to play, pretty to look at, dead boring to watch, it’s currently half price on Steam, and there’s a LOT of gameplay to be had.

Realmente es que hay juegos para todos los pelajes. Simuladores de prácticamente todo... pero los que más me fascinan son los simuladores camioneriles.

Especialmente Snowrunner, que muestra sus novedades para su temporada 15.

I have played all Spintires and Snowrunner games out there. I also have fun with Expeditions, especially at the start, but it didn’t draw me in nearly as much as Snowrunner. It lacks a feeling of progression. Now come #RoadCraft. Now you’re rebuilding roads and everything. This looks like getting stuff done again. I’m very much looking forward to some more off-road adventures (or later onroad as it seems 😉).

Expeditions: A Mudrunner game launched in two weeks. I was always under the assumption that it would have coop right away just like Snowrunner. Apparently that’s not the case but will come in an update in the first year as a free update along the paid Season Pass. They should’ve taken the time to finish the game. Now I’m a lot less excited. Still looks like I would have a lot of fun in it. Might now buy it on launch now thou.

今天在玩 #TheHunter : Call of the wild. 跟 #SnowRunner 系列异曲同工（后者是拖车越野，这个是打猎）的红脖模拟，也是特别 zen。虽然猎物处理不是重点所以略过很多细节（比如没有处理猎物身体部位我还蛮失望的），不过徒步跑几 mile 追踪一个猎物，任务做着做着就被 distract 去追猎物的感觉真的棒，我一晚上也就打到两只鹿，追了几个山头没追到一只受伤的熊，但还是感觉有 mediating 效果。电子游戏真伟大，既能部分体验到打猎的 zen 又不真的伤害到动物和不用受苦受累。
