#OTD Giant #Snowflakes fell at Fort #Keogh in #Montana.

To this day, the flakes remain the largest ever recorded by #GuinnessWorldRecords.

Matt Coleman, a rancher near the fort, measured one flake to be 15 inches wide & 8 inches thick. A mail carrier verified the reports.

When asked about the monster snowflakes, Mr. Coleman said they were "larger than milk pans" or roughly the size of a #Frisbee.

In 2012, #Google commemorated the 1887 snowflakes with a #Doodle.
