Damn. Was doing some testing of the railway - clearing out the storage sidings to do some work on them - and found I forgot to cut away a piece of plywood from one of the recently fitted upper baseboards. It blocks the outer track on the helix! I can see the marks I made for the cuts. But, um, forgot. And clearly I hadn’t run trains with the boards installed. Or if I had, only with rolling stock that just happened to squeeze past.

Can I remove enough without removing the board? Probably not. Best, I think, to accept now that the board is coming out again. Albeit briefly. What a pain. Also I’d just populated it with rolling stock from the storage sidings. So I need to move all them again too.

I might just have a quick go to see how accessible that spot is, anyway. Just in case.

Oh, great! This morning (after a #Slowroll update), @kde has finally reached feature parity between #Wayland and #X11 for me: When I try to log in, I get only black screen in both cases.

EDIT: My apologies to #KDE. This was a hanging ssh-add process waiting for a password on an apparently random terminal (definitely not visible on screen). It was started by keychain, which I added to my bash profile to work around missing ssh-agent support in Wayland sessions. After I killed it using SSH from another computer, my desktop environment is now back to #SNAFU (freezing and crashing) behaviour.

Brain rot levels are nominal, and don't let anyone tell you different.

"23 skidoo" combines two earlier expressions, "twenty-three" (1899) and "skidoo" (1901), both of which, independently and separately, referred to leaving, being kicked out, or the end of something. "23 skidoo" quickly became a popular catchphrase after its appearance in early 1906.

Also, shout out to "nominal" for having so many meanings that it is usually impossible to guess what any particular usage means.

#TIL that the filesystem of my #macOS computer, APFS, is *case insensitive*. That means filenames "snafu", "Snafu", or "SNAFU" all refer to the *same* file. That strikes me as being such a 1980s (or even 1970s) design.

I'm so surprised by this because I'm *certain* that in the past 20-something years I've used #Apple OSes, the filesystem *had* been *case sensitive*. Maybe I'm misremembering. Or maybe it's changed for the worse over the years and I didn't notice.
