Was just rudely shocked awake at 2:30am by a screaming smoke detector. No actual smoke, just a “smoke sensor error”, whatever that is. Certainly the manufacturer’s web site has no information about it. (They do have some kind of chatbot for search but you can’t use it without providing your contact info and agreeing to a huge terms and conditions, so no.)
Over the course of my life I’ve been woken up a number of times by smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with low batteries, or other non-emergencies. I have never once had one go off during waking hours. Since I’m awake 2/3 of the time, this is highly improbable. Really makes me wonder if there is a light sensor on the unit and a psychopathic hardware engineer involved.

I was just woken up by a smoke alarm going off in my house very briefly, maybe three seconds / beeps. It stopped before I could pinpoint the exact smoke detector that had been triggered. Might have been on top floor?
I walked through the whole house and looked & smelled in every room, and found no sign of smoke. I also checked outside on both sides of the house, since the windows were open, and didn't notice anything weird outdoors.
What the fuck? What do I do now?

Woke up to some other appartement's smoke detector alarm a few minutes ago. Eventually it stopped while my partner went over to check if anything is actually burning and it didn't, as far as we could tell at least. He couldn't find the exact apartment because it stopped a minute to early for that, and nobody answered when ringing the door bells.
However, this is the third or so false alarm from a detector in this house in the last few years and we were always the only ones actually double checking or even just looking out of the door, confused. And nobody contacted us when it was our smoke detector crying wolf for no reason.
Should there ever be an actual fire and we're not around or not noticing it, we'll all be screwed, because nobody would move their arses anywhere in time.
Please look out for your neighbours and take fire alarms seriously, folks! Even when the chance of a malfunction in the local smoke detector is fairly high. You never know.

Just completed - not installing - but actually adding the #ZWave combo #smokedetector /CO2 detector (yes, @TechConnectify: Photocell) to my Z-Wave controller, instead of just relying on the sound of it to alert me.
Now they all text me & my husband if there's a fire - in case we're out of the house.
We have a dog. This way we can call a neighbor to get my pup out of the house should the need arise.
Don't know why I didn't do this before. Thanks for cajoling me to test, @TechConnectify! ❤️

Well, fuck. Anyone know how to prevent false alarms from smoke detectors? I live in a new-ish house (5 years old) and it has interconnected smoke detectors in all rooms. We were woken up at 5 am by them going off, for absolutely no reason. It really freaks out the kids!
Every one of them has triggered at least once since we have lived here, evidenced by the 'ready' light blinking red instead of green.

Can somebody suggest a pair of #smokedetector that are linked so that both start an alarm if one of them detects a potential #fire?
Furthermore, I'd like to integrate them to my local #HomeAssistant setup on top: handle alarm notifications additional to the local alarm.
