  1. Managed to add 2 thermostats via #Zigbee / #Zigbee2MQTT and 3 lightbulbs via #Matter over #Thread using #HomeAssistant and my #SMLight dongle without using any cloud shite. Let's call it a day! 🥳

  2. Ein paar persönliche Ziele für diese Woche:

    • [ ] Steuererklärung vorbereiten 😩
    • [ ] Die erste #FediverseFragNight terminieren / ankündigen :awesome:
    • [ ] Eine bestimmte #CryptPad-Instanz abschließend einrichten 👀
    • [ ] Papiere ausmisten und entsorgen 📄
    • [ ] Sommerurlaub buchen 🏝️
:oh_no:
  3. Finally managed to get a barely working #Matter setup by using a Ukranian #Smlight MR1U, which has radios for both #Zigbee and #Thread. Very cool device which can be freely flashed with plenty of firmwares and powered by either PoE or USB.

Sadly my #HomeAssistant installation on a #Pi400 refused to detect the device via USB. Moved the sd card to a #Pi4 and it got detected right away. Huh.

After messing with the outdated Python Matter Server I got a single #Kajplats bulb working, all other Matter devices refuse to connect. 😂 Well, at least it's a star of something.

Or I just stop wasting my time now and move on to Zigbee for now. 😮‍💨

  10. We have an odd shaped property, so odd that I have found no way to establish a reliable Zigbee mesh network, until I installed multiple SLZB-06 LAN coordinators. As of today I now have 3 of them which means I can now install battery powered devices in the farthest reaches of our property and get a reliable connection.
SLZB06 can also be used as a Thread Border Router - that's the next install.

  11. I finally was able to move the last devices from #ZHA to #Zigbee2MQTT.

It all started in April when #HomeAssistant 2025.4 had a rare bug that made some Zigbee devices unresponsive, when you have a lot of them. To this day the bug isn't fixed.

Right about this time I heard about the #SMLIGHT SLZB-06, a Zigbee stick that works independently of the device and connects via Ethernet.

So I bought it and placed it in the center of my flat. From there on every time I had a bit time I moved some devices. It's great that you can use ZHA and Z2M together in Home Assistant and it just works.

Yesterday I moved the last light to the SMILGHT stick and unplugged my old SONOFF stick.

I was able to update to Home Assistant 2025.8 and everything works perfectly. Better than it ever worked with ZHA. And I have more usable entities per device.

  12. Restarting everything 20 times suddenly worked. That was definitely not nice. I wish I would know why this happened, how I can prevent it and how can I autofix it in the future.

It was basically this error: reddit.com/r/Zigbee2MQTT/comme

  20. I updated the firmware for Core and #zigbee coordinator. For both cases the #changelog is provided in the UI. No need to search for it somewhere ! That's smart :neofox_cool:

  22. Following a conversation on #zigbee controller < hachyderm.io/@yourfutureex@met > I ordered 9 days ago the #smlight #SLZB-06M

It will replace the #conbee2 that I used since 4 years.

I can't wait for the end of the day so I can test it

  23. @yourfutureex
    I ordered the SLZB-06M
Let's see if #EFR32MG21 is as good as #CC2652P

I will not paint it in white 😋 but hide it under the desk.
Now the big question: what should I do to migrate the #zigbee network from #conbee2 to #slzb-06 ?

  26. Just installed the #SMLight Zigbee Coordinator and now my lights respond faster than my WiFi. Flicking my lights almost feels like being Tony Stark! Next challenge: getting my Coffee maker to brew on its own and deliver to bed!💡✨

  31. Currently re-attempting updating the #smlight SLZB-06 #Zigbee coordinator. Hopefully knowing that ZHA might have been the source of my trouble this will go a lot smoother.
