Well, I finally tracked down the skipping issue with Great Aunt Barbara's (RIP) SCM Super-G Ghia. It's got a broken tooth on the escapement gear... /sigh

Okay, I think I've tracked down the issue and repaired the intermittent slip from single linespacing to 1.5 linespacing on my #SearsCitation #typewriter (a rebrand of a #SMCgalaxie) 1968.

I needed to bend up this little tab/ledge that the rocker arm, which moves the gear, rests on. Now, it appears to stay in single linespacing

(fingers crossed)

It might need some fine-tuning, but at least I have something to tune now :)

@ambergrey A #TomHanks special! Those are very nice. I also use a 1965 #SmithCorona Zephre. Light weight, compact with integrated case. You can get a #SilentSuper with a holiday case. You'll love it.

Ooo! I found and ordered a "Letter Gothic" typeface printwheel for my charcoal grey /black #SmithCorona #typewriter. I will have a #gothwriter soon.

The two black keys are 'changeable type' as the slugs can be swapped for different characters, although this one has a fairly standard 1/! and +/=

It's not a big typewriter, but it's a hefty chunk of metal, approx. 9.5KG (21lbs) with the case.

Both appear to be in good shape and functional though one is going to need some reasonable cleaning and repair of a few linkages. I can’t wait for them to ship to see what I’ve got. They both look like a lot of fun…

It works! I’m able to use the #SmithCorona #typewriter as a #teletype and dial into the #BBS! Need to do some work on the firmware but it’s nice to move off the breadboard where I was worried about bumping it and everything falling apart.
