last Smaugust of the month. the prompt was Love or Death. the concept is free for interpretation as I didnt have a clear direction with this one, just went with the flow, but it does feel tragic .
what do you think ? any opinions how to interprate this one? -
A #dragon for the end of #Smaugust.
This little one is growing from pine cone - because long time ago I saw a photo here, with really giant pine cones, some Mexican species as I remember. Like more than 30 cm in height. When I show that photo to my friend, he commented like "wow, pine cones for growing #dragons".
I thought about it and then remembered these "dragons made of wood fibers" from #Terraria mod. So if a dragon-like creature would grow from those giant pine cones, it would be something like this.#drawing #art #MastoArt #CreativeToots #krita #ArtWithOpenSource #dragonart

I keep forgetting to post this: For a combined #Smaugust and #Doggust we drew a dragon dog this month. A Dogon, if you will!
And of course, it's also a pokémon! Well, a fakemon at least—
Chihuacabra, the dragon/fairy piñata pouncer pokémon. A very original name and concept I'm sure :D
We gave ourselves two hours with the design, and it needed way more revisions... Oh well. I'm keeping it.

I hope you would like this nice #dragon hatchling, impatiently waiting for his siblings.
Now I think these looks too smooth for dragon eggs, I feel they should be more like rock with cracks... but real reptile #eggs are smooth and even soft as I remember...

Since we’re sharing #dragon art for #Smaugust, here’s one of mine, from my #ChineseZodiac series.
The dragon is a near-universal figure in world mythologies and has quite complex symbolism. In China, the dragon is more benign than in most Western legends, and the powerful creature is the fifth in the 12-year zodiac cycle. Since August hosts the dragon-themed #Smaugust I am sharing my Dragon’s Gate #linocut. This is a hand-carved and hand-printed lino block print on delicate 8" x 10" Japanese paper illustrating the Chinese legend of Longmen or The Dragon Gate atop a waterfall on a legendary mountain, According to folklore, many carp swim upstream in the mighty Yellow River, against the strong current, but few are brave or strong enough to make the jump over the waterfall where it cut through a cleft in the 🧵
