A week after I wrote about my unease around smart glasses, the debate has moved fast.
A German digital-rights group has now filed a complaint over Meta’s AI glasses, arguing people can be filmed without noticing (👉 https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/german-advocacy-group-lodges-criminal-complaint-over-meta-ai-glasses-2026-08-12/).
A visible recording light tells me recording is happening. It still does not answer whether the people around it consented.

E, no mesmo sentido, também o cliente que lá deixou os óculos não tem qualquer garantia de qual é que foi a informação sobre a vida dele que lhes ficou acessível enquanto faziam este trabalho”, avisa.
As questões de privacidade que envolvem os óculos inteligentes têm-se multiplicado internacionalmente, ao passo que também aumentam as denúncias sobre gravações sem consentimento que se tornam virais na internet.
Não há, na Europa, uma regulamentação específica para a sua utilização, mas alguns países já começam a adotar medidas para barrar a circulação destes spy glasses, ou óculos espiões, como certos media, como o jornal The Guardian, os têm adjetivado. Tribunais em Inglaterra e no País de Gales proibiram os Meta AI nas suas instalações, na última semana. Antes, já restaurantes, pubs e teatros britânicos tinham anunciado um veto aos óculos. Em Potsdam, na Alemanha, foram proibidos em piscinas e saunas, com outras cidades a ponderar medidas semelhantes.
Apesar de todas as polémicas, a Meta anunciou ter vendido sete milhões de pares dos óculos AI feitos em parceria com a Ray-Ban em 2025, número que tem vindo a crescer desde o lançamento da primeira versão, em 2021."

"Smart-glasses detector apps aren’t perfect. At best, they can alert users when nearby glasses are turned on by detecting the Bluetooth signal used to pair the glasses with a phone. Most importantly, the apps cannot determine whether the glasses are actively recording, and users are cautioned to never assume that someone wearing smart glasses is recording them. App makers also advise against confrontation and accept no liability for false positives or misunderstandings. Additionally, detection may be unreliable if a wall or other obstacle, like a human body, interferes with a signal.
Users don’t seem to consider these flaws deal-breakers. They simply want some way to scan a room, and some are eager to provide feedback to improve the apps, even expressing an emotional investment in seeing the technology develop.
One of the first apps, Nearby Glasses, is available for $2.99 on both iOS and Android. It has been downloaded more than 100,000 times from the Play Store and remains the most popular such app, despite the developer, Yves Jeanrenaud, warning on GitHub that he’s “no pro developer” and that “detecting Bluetooth LE devices might sometimes just not work as expected,” and “false positives are likely.”
Released in response to online content showing that smart glasses are “an intolerable intrusion, consent neglecting, horrible piece of tech,” Jeanrenaud said, he kept his goals humble. On GitHub, he wrote, “I hope this app is useful for someone,” but “I do not want to promote techsolutionism, nor do I want people to feel falsely secure. It’s still an imperfect approach,” and it probably “always will be.”"

Post ironico: ho letto diversi articoli sugli occhiali smart. Pro/contro e su come i giovani li stanno usando. La colpa è sempre di come utilizziamo una tecnologia: un coltello può essere usato per tagliare, modellare la legna, accendere un fuoco, ma anche per ledere una persona. Ma analisi tecniche a parte ho trovato questo piccolo jammer utilizzabile per disturbare le frequenze fino al 5G, WiFi e bluetooth. Che ne pensate? Posso usarlo per non farmi riprendere? 🤣
