to the car 
i see
a silver strand 
intent on 
capturing me
 
i was gone 
but a moment 
yet the spider 
did spin
from the mirror 
across the window 
to lure 
me in
 
it seems 
this small one 
dreams of 
bigger prey
so too I 
if to my path 
I stay

this bit 
of web 
is a 
flimsy thing
but if 
I cast 
it not
i snare 
nothing

Face to face with the Marsh #Fritillary. Not the angle at which you usually see this beautiful #Butterfly in photos, but this one presented me with the opportunity for a ‘head-on’ portrait so I went with it (and I rather like the result)! Another shot from my visit to the Butterfly Conservation reserves at Prestbury Hill in #Gloucestershire last month.

The circle of life. A mating pair of Variable Damselflies (Coenagrion pulchellum), at RSPB Ham Wall in Somerset at the beginning of this month, in the ‘wheel’ or ‘heart’ formation, which is unique to Dragonflies and Damselflies.

The Small Blue, with a wingspan of 20-30mm, is Britain's smallest #Butterfly; there were dozens of them at Prestbury Hill in #Gloucestershire on Sunday! Only the male, pictured here, has those tiny blue scales scattered across the otherwise brown upper wings of this species.

I'll have no sniggering in this classroom, but here is a wonderful new-ish snowdrop called Dick's Early Yellow.

It's flowering for the second year with us and looks amazing.

Smallish but very bright and cheerful.

Looks like we should have three flowers this year where we had one last year.
