I can’t really tell individual rabbits apart 🐇
But I think this might be the one that was born near my house earlier this year. I have been seeing it around since it was tiny in the spring, and now it’s grown quite a bit 😊 -

All seven gerbils that we had in the past were all healthy and some of them lived more than 5 years. Unlike hamsters, they never tried to escape from the cage. But, these guys are different, they are jumping around and often seeking to escape 😅 Also, it took much longer to tame them. They may be closer to wild 🤔

- Meriones unguiculatusUri (melon) and Kuri (marron/chestnut) - both males. They just arrived home 🤩
They were restlessly searching around the new habitat - I couldn’t get them in the same picture 😉
The last gerbil pair lived more than 5 years - we hope they also have a long life together 😊

NEW: We’re partnering with #Lowell Humane Society on a fee-waived adoptathon for guinea pigs and rabbits! The event, which begins tomorrow and runs through Sunday, comes as space for housing the small guys is full up.
Says Assistant Director Bryn Rogers, “Between Lowell Humane and our adoption centers, we have more than 100 guinea pigs and 30 rabbits. Every cage in our shelters is full right now.” 1/

Five-year old gerbil 😊
Gerbils must be kept in pairs or in a group. Sadly, his partner passed away a few months ago after living together for more than four years and a half 😢
Mongolian gerbil’s lifespan is 3-4 years in captivity. Both gerbils were well-beyond their lifespan, so, we decided not to introduce another gerbil 🤔
Although he is slower and sleeps longer than before, he still got energy, destroying any paperboard to make his own bedding 😊
