A federal judge has ordered a full trial of the challenge to Trump’s $1.8 billion slush fund for January 6 insurrectionists after the Department of Justice refused to confirm in writing that it was dead.

The Trump administration’s $1.8 billion slush fund to ‘compensate’ convicted January 6 insurrectionists and other alleged victims of “lawfare” is heading for full trial after a federal judge ruled that the Department of Justice’s refusal to confirm in writing that the fund is dead left her no alternative.

The fund, called the anti-weaponisation fund, was announced in May as part of a settlement of Trump’s lawsuit against the IRS over the leak of his tax returns.

That settlement also contained provisions shielding Trump, his family and his companies from audits on all earlier tax returns. Effectively, it is a free pass on any tax evasion which may have taken place in the past.

Judge Kathleen Williams in Florida, who oversaw the
