#Trump added that he would keep #ToddBlanche as acting #US #AG if his nomination to run the #DOJ fails in the #Senate, & blasted 2 #GOP senators who blocked Blanche.
It was not immediately clear what legislation Trump was referencing, & the White House did not respond to questions about Trump’s post. Sen. #ThomTillis (R-NC), one of the senators who had held up Blanche’s nomination over the #SlushFund, quickly criticized Trump’s comments.

Trump suggested Thursday that he could withdraw Blanche’s nomination to become attorney general until next year, as a standoff continues with the 2 Republican senators who are demanding concessions from the admin before supporting Blanche.

The Senate is at a standstill over the #SlushFund.
#ThomTillis said that he & other #Republicans were pursuing multiple efforts to use the #immigration bill to permanently block #Trump’s $1.8 billion fund without sending the bill back to committee, which #Democrats’ proposal would do.
Tillis said he was “working on some other amendments that, hopefully, we can get consensus on, that will get the fund out,” while still allowing the larger immigration bill to move forward.

Senator #ThomTillis, Republican of North Carolina, who is introducing his own amendment to ban the $1.8 billion payout #SlushFund, just voted “no” on Schumer’s motion. That’s because Schumer’s motion would send the underlying #immigration bill, which Tillis supports, back to committee. It is an indication that this motion may not garner any Republican support, even though many #Republicans also want to codify into #law a ban on the fund.

Senator #SusanCollins, Republican of Maine, just voted for Schumer’s motion, the first #Republican to vote “yes.”
This motion can still fail if three Republicans vote for it, if everyone is voting. Collins is up for re-election in a critical & competitive state.
Senator #ThomTillis, who voted no, is not running for re-election.
