In een rommelige film met veel effectbejag, flink bekritiseerd door recensenten, vond ik toch een hoop moois. Slumberland is in de basis een mooi verhaal, dat in deze film niet helemaal uit de verf komt. De sfeer en omgevingen zijn echter wel mooi en de karakters zijn ijzersterk. De topcast zet deze karakters ook goed neer. Zeker Jason Momoa in een dergelijke rol is zowel goed als hilarisch. We hebben ons als gezin goed vermaakt met deze film.

#Slumberland is a fun, silly, great-looking #KidsMovie that works for adults, too!
However, I did not expect to be crying around halfway in; that reveal surprised and moved me.

Fun fact: #Slumberland which has a suggestive salsa dance between two adults has a 7+ rating. #MitchellsVsTheMachines which has a character who only wears a rainbow pin and mentions she is dating a girl at the very end of the movie is rated 18+. There’s a similar age rating applied to the children’s cartoon series #GoDogGo because one child’s parents are gay.
Any mention of an lgbt theme and it’s 18+…

Finally watched #Slumberland on #Netflix. Second best #movie of the year for me, after #TopGun. I was very surprised about how good it was. Great family movie.

Side note: There is a rad garbage truck scene in #Slumberland on #Netflix. Reminds me of the old days on my job, hanging on the back of the truck as the driver took me for a wild ride in the streets of #SanFrancisco.

Jesus. Of all the ways to make a movie based on Little Nemo’s Adventures in Slumberland, this has got to be the most copy-paste. I’m not a McCay purist but even I know that a movie about a grieving child adapting to a new school and unwilling guardian uncle is…. really a far stretch from a whimsical topsy turvy adventure. What a joyless shitty Save The Cat routine.

Hi folks! I'm #WinsorMcCay. I was born in East Zorra Township in SW Ontario way back in Sep 1867... so I guess that makes me (barely) Canadian, eh? I created Little Nemo In #Slumberland in 1905 but I received no screen credit in the most excellent Francis Lawrence adaptation. Now does that seem fair to you?
The two most important people in animation are Winsor McCay & #WaltDisney... and I'm not sure which should go first.
