  1. One thing I’m really appreciating about Mastodon is that it doesn’t make me anxious. Since there’s no algorithm that penalises me if I don’t post for two consecutive days, I feel much more relaxed and enjoy the experience more. It’s nice to be able to enjoy social media 😄

  2. “All that you touch, you change.
All that you change changes you.”

Octavia Butler names the reciprocity we all live inside of — ecological, emotional, relational.
A reminder that transformation isn’t something we do to the world; we change with it.

  3. To be honest, aside from helping me learn Python, the main thing that I want AI to do for me personally is to browse the web for me.

A lot of the dysfunctional aspects of my online habits come from compulsively checking to see if I’m missing out on something. I want to be able to essentially ignore the internet, and then sit down for a weekly (maybe even monthly) session and have my web crawler agent just show me the highlights.

I would pay a subscription fee, happily.

Eli, I ran into your work again today in a Metagov session where we were talking about #SlowSocial. Hope we get a chance to swap notes!

For folks wanting to learn more, here's Eli talking with the Metagov seminar group about New Public, social networks, scale and subsidiarity, and more:

  5. Mastodon lets you follow people and only see their original toots. It’s a good option if your home timeline gets filled with one person’s boosts. Open their profile, click on the ⋮ button, and click “Hide boosts from user.” (It only hides future boosts, not historical ones.) Use it with care, as you might miss some good stuff. #intothefediverse #slowsocial #feditips
