  1. I have tried #TinyCore #Linux on my #Thinkpad #X60 old #32bit #laptop. I was very impressed. Everything worked. Very cool #wifi connecter app. #Firefox worked!!! Now I run #OpenBSD but I will go back to TinyCore if it doesn't work out.

PS: I've heard again today about #Slitaz after more than 10 yesrs!!!

  3. Obsolete hardware

Whenever I need to run an operating system on obsolete computing hardware, I find the smallest distribution Puppy Linux comes into mind.
The last number of years Slitaz has been doing an enormously great job keeping my old hardware to chug along.

Slitaz is so small it can run on RAM:

    That's Amiga speak for ramdisk

  8. I had forgotten that I have qemu installed. I need to check the syntax for memory allocation but this iso starts (slitaz) FreeBSD starts effortless and goes all the way to live even Omnios also but I need to allocate more ram for that than the default small ammount.

I will play with qemu later today

  19. And yes, for those waiting, I plan on doing the release concurrently because there are a lot of tiny linux fixes in 3.3.32, including supporting at least to some degree all the known servers, and fixing some always broken system init detections for based systems. And support! that's another groovy tiny linux distro. And support enhanced. Those are all cool projects that to me are one of the best things about the /#linux ecosystem.

  20. @adamw @mjgardner @Perl I can see you simply can't grasp this point at all. I suggest you stop wasting your time, really. Yes, you are right, rh have been breaking this stuff a long time, and yes, on older systems you may have to explicitly install perl modules since those were removed from perl, but that's totally irrelevant. I have to install @Perl on tinycore too, which is fine, and also on other small tiny distros like and I think . Those are 15-50 MiB install isos.

The Pentium 4 desktop, sadly, was thrown away in 2016, and I regret not keeping it for further Linux experiments.

  30. Adding / support for , and it's package manager / repos . This also exposed a significant bug with init detections on based distros, which made it hang when detecting the init system due to way too lose tests. Now correctly gets init as BusyBox and version too. Also added in corrected slitaz distro ID.

this is turning into yet another really big inxi release, but waiting is proving to be productive in terms of features.

    Finished TinyX detections as well.

I'd tried several distros before -- Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Puppy watchamacallit...

    #SliTaz is the snappiest! 👍

Not vital. Just tinkering and trying to give my old #netbook a new life, make it useful. Hoping to get a #browser that will let me use the web versions of #YouTubeMusic, #Spotify, #Skype, #Zoom, etc.

The pre-installed Midori can't do it, unfortunately.

    Thanks! I'll try that. 🤓
Hopefully #SliTaz has that same command.

Right now it's time to try* and sleep...
