90 minutes from Dublin by train sits Athlone and Sean's Bar, the oldest pub in Ireland. An hour and a half gets you to Kilkenny, where the Smithwick's brewery tour is the only beer tour I've done that includes a centuries-old ruined abbey. Sligo, three hours out, turned out to be a genuine up-and-coming foodie town with its own food trail. None of this required a car. Full guide: https://travel.sidewalksafari.com/ireland-by-train/

Dr Margaret Connolly is a GP in #Sligo town. She is also the wife of a former TD and Mayor of Sligo, and the sister of President #CatherineConnolly. #PresidentConnolly
