Once upon a time the syslog-ng project also did a couple of changes to allow reproducible builds (no timestamp or git hash).

Last week #syslog_ng 4.12.0 was released. It comes now with RHEL RPMs next to DEB packages. My versioned #RHEL / #Fedora and #openSUSE / #SLES repos are still prepared:

Note that my RHEL 10 build failed and needs investigation.

Zum neuen #LinuxMagazin 07/26 durfte ich zwei Artikel beisteuern:

Der erste (https://www.linux-magazin.de/ausgaben/2026/07/susecon/) dreht sich um die kürzlich stattgefundene #SUSECON in Prag und behandelt u.a. die News rund um #SLES, #SUSE #Linux Micro und Multi-Linux Manager.

Der zweite (https://www.linux-magazin.de/ausgaben/2026/07/patch-me-if-you-can/) startet eine neue Serie rund um die Patch- und Lifecycle Management-Suite Foreman/Katello. Im ersten Teil werden die verwendeten Projekte erklärt und installiert sowie erste Software-Inhalte lokal gespiegelt.

Ab Morgen werde ich die Testinstallation von @openproject Enterprise von #Debian 12 mit einer nativen Installation aus dem Repository auf #SLES 16 mit einer nativen potsgreSQL und podman umziehen.

Wenn ich die kleinen Hürden genommen habe und auch die Gespräche mit Nextcloud bezüglich Dateiteilung funktional sind, startet das Deployment von Prod.

Falls Interesse daran besteht, kann ich dies dann einmal in mein Blog schreiben

@kaffeeringe @carolina @mthie Also sonst auf Servermarkt halt noch #RHEL und #SLES und noch einige wenige andere. Und da gehts dann inzwischen auch mehr um Container und Microimages. Desktopapps spielen für diese Firmen gar keine große Rolle mehr. Mobile Devices ist schwieriger Markt, da sind Linux Apps bisher auch nie weit gekommen, immerhin etwas an Open Source und langsam besser. Und auch Android-Ersatz wird bald massenreif.
