Review of "Pride and Prejudice" (4.5 stars): Frustratingly delectable frission
-
Review of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Oz, #1)" (2.5 stars): A colourful little jaunt

"The Silmarillion" JRR Tolkien. 3.5 stars. Biblically dull in parts, making for a perfect sleep story. But some chapters were great standalone stories full of action & high drama. Otherwise, only for world-building nerds.

"Coraline" Neil Gaiman. 4 stars. A girl is trapped in a mirror world inhabited by doppelgangers with black buttons for eyes. Can she escape becoming a meal for its architect? Creepy! But excellent. Too much tension for a #SleepStory.

"A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning" Lemony Snicket. 3 stars. A dark children's story about three orphans who get farmed out to their evil & conniving relative, who has eyes only for their fortune. The baddies are over-the-top, and the good adults frustratingly disregard the children's inadequate cries for help. Some questionable plot points.

This #SleepStory has been superb at getting me off on my afternoon nap. A bunch of letters that #Tolkien wrote as Father #Christmas to his children. (John's Sleep Stories also has a great version of The #Silmarillion, which is a much better way to take it in than actually reading the blighter. And some excellent Sagan content.)

Winding things down. Reading a bit and then I think I will listen to the LaVar Burton #SleepStory - Journey to the Stars.

#SherlockHolmes is, umm, rather hot in the upcoming #SleepStory.

Back in the day, I spent HOURS modding #skyrim so I could be a traveling merchant in a cart. So this week's #SootheStory was particularly fun to do - and no modding necessary, thank goodness!
Available on the YT channel and all podcast apps tomorrow.

Will I ever get tired of #cozy, cute, colorful and a wee bit wonky caravan carts?
No. No, I won't.

What's it like to shelve 📚 in a dark wizard's #library?
Sometimes...a little dangerous.

#ExtremeSelfCare Day today. Exhausted in body, mind and spirit. May take a walk to the ocean, may nap.
As always, deeply grateful for #mastodon.
Curious if anyone else here does #SelfCare days?

A #59SecondStory about your rabbit pals: Briarbun, Mosston and Hopscotch.

Briarbun squeaks and points ahead. Ooh, hawthorn berries! Oh, wonderful. I think we should gather as many as we can. This is exactly what I need for my famous tummy jam...
