A lot of good points made in this video, including a Democrat choosing to do as Republicans have long done and change party in an attempt to win a primary, and thus presumably the general election. In this instance, due to heavy gerrymandering by the Republican-led state legislature (North Carolina).

#Slavery was never abolished in the #US, it was only modified, as explicitly defined in the #13thAmendment.
The #PrisonIndustrialComplex is literally #SlaveryByAnotherName.
Where are the international sanctions on the #UnitedStates?
And people are still confused as to how we can be allies with brutally repressive, and #authoritarian regimes. Like attracts like.

@bobbelcher The article opens with a glaring error, "...a former Southern slave plantation..."
#Angola #prison is a *current* #slave #plantation, and has always been so, as defined by the #13thAmendment.
The form of #slavery has been altered, but not the fact, and #Louisiana is probably the most openly slave state in the #US, along with #Alabama and #Mississippi.
The article does a great job of explaining this national shame, and calling it what it is: #SlaveryByAnotherName.

#The1619Project episode 4 explodes the myth of #capitalism in the #US.
Founded here and in #Europe on #slavery (from where do you think most of the wealth in your precious period pieces derived?), capitalism in the U.S. retains much of the same characteristics as 200 years ago.
The author of #SlaveryByAnotherName (book and #PBS show) helps explain in the context of #Amazon in #Bessemer #Alabama.
The #corporate fight against #unions is used to highlight the ills of our brutal society.
