  1. A quotation from Lincoln

I have always thought that all men should be free; but if any should be slaves it should be first those who desire it for themselves, and secondly those who desire it for others. Whenever [I] hear any one arguing for slavery I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.

Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) American lawyer, politician, US President (1861-65)
Speech (1865-03-17) to the 104th Indiana Regiment, Indianapolis

  2. #Tyrants view educated citizens as their greatest enemy.
#Slaveholders stopped the enslaved from learning to read.
#Nazis burned books. #Dictators censor media. That’s why #Trump is attacking education, science, museums, and the arts
    - to prevent us from learning.
    It’s #fascism 101.

  3. " 'To make a contented slave,' Bailey later wrote, 'it's necessary to make a thoughtless one. It is necessary to darken his moral and mental vision, and, as far as possible, to annihilate the power of reason.' This is why #slaveholders must #control what slaves hear and see and think."

-- Carl #Sagan, Demon Haunted World

    Frederick #Bailey was a #slave born in 1820. It's impressive how this applies to #today's #society and its #tech #slaves.

  4. Ron #DeSantis is an overt #whiteSupremacist. There's simply no other conclusion that can be drawn from his repugnant, #racist behavior. He seems fixated on mandating the teaching of a malevolent, ahistoric notion that seeks to minimize the horror of #slavery, and cast black #slaves as the lucky beneficiaries of valuable job skills, learned while being the property of #white #slaveholders. This is vile, historical revisionism at its worst.
