Tonight having a great Scottish #bitter #ale at 5,7% abv from Broughton Brewery. It is looking more like porter in my glass. Darks, sweet, lots of flavours, and slightly bitter. Almost refreshing.
Then a generous pour with a classic 10 year old Ardbeg #whisky from Islay. #slaintemhath

Highland Park Heather, a seriously peated whisky at 45ppm and cask strength 63,6% ABV. Non-chill filtered and natural (non) colour.
Lots of heather-honey, vanilla toffee and oak spice. Can handle a lot of water. It is young but still have all Orkney character 🥃 #whisky #slainteMhath

It's been a while since I wrote anything about whiskey. Newly released bottle, 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and without color additives as it should be. Aged in totally 54 ex-bourbon barrels and tastes of caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, slight citrus tones and rosehip.
Noticeable islay peatiness 👌🥃

Sturdy neckpour of Ardnahoe Bholsa, named after the Bholsa caves on the rugged north coast of Islay.
NCF, NC 50% ABV.
My tastingnotes is much like what it says on the cardboard box, red fruits, walnuts, orange zest & peat on the nose.
There is raisins, dates, and ripe plums and peat on the palate.
Peat & peppery finish.

With som water it gets more nutty, and some sweet strawberry jam.
Even the finish gets sweet dark fruits.

Nose - peat is not that present, dark sweet fruits.
Palate - Dark fruit notes, nutty flavours with a lot of sweetness, vanilla and caramel. Somewhat minty(?). More peat than nose. Maritime saltiness.
Long and lingering finish, rich and full-bodied and Islay maritime notes.

And now some fruity Killkerran 16, peat and pineapple on the nose but more like tropical fruits as mango and papaya on the palate. Vanilla/custard and sweet peat.
Finish is a bit peppery, red fruits/berrys and some mint/menthol.

Today i am having some odd Glenallchie. 11 year old single cask # 1120 - selected for ”vi som gillar Glenallchie” (for us who loves Glenallchie).
Distilled 17.01.2013 and bottled december 2024. Oloroso hogshead cask, and sky-high 63,2% ABV, NC & NCF.
Can take a lot of water for avoid alcohol burn.
Lots of dark fruits, strawberry jam, chocolate, leather, tobacco, nutty and vanilla. Just a wonderful dram 🥃
