Toujours en vie mais rincé par ce début de mois de juillet. Il fait tellement moche (alors que la côte est bat des records de températures) qu'on doit gratter tous les jours où la pluie est aux abonnées absentes.

Donc deux fois samedi et dimanche au turbin.

Congés de 3 semaines en août. Rien de planifié à part... :dotowaha:

Vielleicht sollte ich für meinen Freiluft-#Kühlschrank doch mal eine #Styroporbox mit Deckel besorgen?

Die könnte die #Temperaturschwankungen besser abfedern. Es ist tagsüber noch etwas wärmer als gedacht. Aber nicht viel.

Ansonsten funktioniert es. Der kleine Vorrat braucht nur eine Woche halten und das tut er. Ist für #Käse, #Frischmilch, #Skyr und dgl. kein Problem.

I have become a fan of Skyr, the Icelandic form of yogurt. I like Icelandic Provisions a lot, but is it worth seeking out other brands? (I did not care for Siggi's.)

I think Painterland Sisters (which I keep calling Painter Sisterland, because I'm the Queen of spoonerisms) is available at Sprouts.

In the non-skyr arena, I didn't like Stonyfield Farms, though everyone else seems to think it's the best. I'd like to try Maple Hill, which will also necessitate a trip to Sprouts or Fresh Market. Both Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are 45 minutes away from me.

Great to see #Bavaria supermarkets sell their own brand of #organic #skyr with the same #nutrition and texture as Andechser's, at even lower price. E.g., Kaufland's is €1.49 instead of €1.99. 🤑

At this point, there's simply no reason not to buy the good stuff. The only problem should be figuring out how not to eat too much of it. 😋

I also like oat milk and coconut milk. Got one of each recently via a local food rescue place. Not crazy about the pea protein Rebbl added to these products. Has a chalky mouth feel.

At the opposite pole, I do like the oatmilk skyr by Icelandic Provisions. Very smooth and tasty! Also from food rescue.

The organic Skyr ☝️ is from the dairy collective Andechser Natur, located in and around Andechs, Bavaria. Here's a description of how they care for the cows and the pastures.

The nutrition in this yogurt is superb: highest protein density and lowest carb density of all Greek yogurts I've had. And that comes through in both the taste and texture: practically no sweet or water. Pretty close to our home-made yogurt.

I'd buy it every possible time. 👍👍
